Heard a story about an ex player from the 80s.
Supposedly he’s a damn near billionaire.
He’s one of a small group of people who cut checks when LSU football needs something or needs to get rid of something.

One of the founders of EnCap (oil investment in Houston) is a former player with deep pockets. Family member used to work there and told me President taylor called up to the office and also the founder took coach Kelly out to lunch when he was first hired. So assume he’s a booster

if shaq lived in LA he would be the top 5 richest people in the state. Let's not put him and Mathieu in the same category

I was going to post this, hell, they have a room named after them at the stadium. Very deep pockets.

No he wouldn’t. Maybe top 25. Quite a few very wealthy that fly under the radar in Louisiana.

Walk around Tiger Stadium and read their names. These are the ones that are willing to be known. Those who prefer anonymity give in honor of memory of these names.

Random topic I know, but was just curious who are some of the most well known boosters LSU has either plain as day and at the games cheering with other fans or just just some old Oil Baw behind the scenes with FU money chilling at the ranch or whatever.

i mean there is a reason the big room on the nw side of the stadium is called the bill lawton room

the lawtons, the burtons from swla are the biggest ones i know of from around here. but there are plenty int he LC arean donating 100k plus from around here. I think the heirs to the powell timber company also donate a large sum.

thats what many need to remember, we dont have a ton of guys donating 1 mil plus, but LSU has tons of guys donating 100k+ every year from all over the state, many you would never suspect or know about.

Years ago I had to meet with some old timer who was in the oil business. I had no clue who he was and when I arrived to the old Capital One Tower in Lake Charles I was escorted up to the top floor to meet with Mr. Lawton, he had this plush office suite with a ton of LSU Football memorabilia and for some reason a signed McNeese State helmet. After meeting with him briefly, his main guy drove me over to their Sulphur Office to go over the paperwork. I didn’t figure out who he was until years later when I read an article about a big donation that was made to LSU

I know they have different money I’m just saying I never heard that Shaq pushes a lot of cash funding for projects or contracts. I mean maybe some but not sure.
I always felt those guys that have made it big in sports and come back to promote or do it through media are adding significant value to the school that way, and don’t need to push their personal money to the school.
Maybe they do both. I do remember Mathieu putting up a Million for something 3-5 years ago so I don’t want to discount that.

I'm kind of surprised it took this many replies to get to his name.
Makes me wonder if some of these MFers even go to games.

His name is right fricking there, goobers.
