He was a starter at OT. So granted, wasn’t directly coached by the man but did say he was awful to be around
Buddy of mine played at Central Connecticut State in 2008 when he coached there. When rumors of LSU going after him came up, he told me that EVERYONE from staff to players absolutely HATED this guy. Said he was the rudest and doucheist man he’d ever met

re: Who are LSU’s Biggest Boosters?

One of the founders of EnCap (oil investment in Houston) is a former player with deep pockets. Family member used to work there and told me President taylor called up to the office and also the founder took coach Kelly out to lunch when he was first hired. So assume he’s a booster

WR depth

I know that we have great depth and Mickey has said we could go 10 deep easily with the talent we have. We keep hearing BTJ and Nabers flashing and seem like legit contributors this year, but a name that I havent heard mentioned all off-season and fall camp is Alex Adams. there were whispers when he first came in that he could be special.

anyone have any word on him lately?
of course Saban has power. He is an iconic coach in the college football landscape.

I remember when he was at LSU he practically made LSU get rid of Texas Tech from the schedule bc "I'm not gonna lose a game to some gimmick offense".

and not too long ago he complained to his friends at the SEC office about so many ppl having byes before Bama and guess what.. a new rule was implemented.
There isnt really any "mettsiah" hype anymore, but most ppl would agree that he most likely will improve next season since he now has a yr as a starter and an Oline not smashed by injuries that ll be consistent (hopefully)

We dont need Mett to light anyone up to win games
OM and LSU games are usually closer than expected, but for any fanbase to say a W against any top half SEC team is a forgone conclusion is just plain ignorant.
And for a team coming off of 7 win season to say they have a W locked up against one of the top programs of the past decade is hilarious.

all SEC teams have talent, thats why the SEC litters the NFL draft and recruiting rankings.

honest question for the rant: These players we have replacing our lost starters from last yr, do you honestly think the OM players are more talented?

I am willing to bet that a majority of them would be starters over OM players if they were on the same roster

I don't think anyone should count LSU ole piss or Florida out for this guy.
All three make sense for him for one reason or another, but IMO maybe UF has a better shot.

They are a good team with alot of young talent but also lost a lot on their d line this yr (just like us) but the kicker is that their an East team. This could help UF some in the fact that he wouldn't have to play his brother in a rivalry game every season (mama would like that) and its closer to home.
Johnny will slump next year. He loses his protection and recievers. (although the faggies are gonna have one of the best reciever classes coming in). WE HAVE A BYE BEFORE TOO

UGA and Bama are toss ups. Bama wont be the same with their losses on the O-line and UGA is losing the bulk of their defense too.

Arky always scares me and Ole Piss is wanting revenge, so both close games, but we win.

TCU doesnt have the depth to run with us for a whole game. They got worn out alot this year in the Big 12. Plus, LSU has a good track record with these opening season showcase games.

WE have some great talent and depth. Its just what Miles and then staff are able to develop said talent. THAT is the REAL problem.

We are having how many ppl drafted this year? How many potential 1st rounders? How many future NFL picks are on our roster currently?

No other SEC team has had more NFL picks since 2006.
and even with Bama resurgence, since 2008, they have had 24. LSU has had 30.

I would say they are doing a pretty good job getting tigers ready for sundays..

I agree completely with everything. I dont understand all you apparent tiger fans saying a 4-5 season is awaiting us. I say a 3 loss season is the worst I can see, wouldnt be surprised if an SEC championship if we can win in T-town
Have confidence in our program.

We should go into athens 4-0. UGA is going through something similar with losses on defense. I believe we beat florida bc our offense will be better than theirs and I trust the Chief completely.
Ole Piss slightly scares me bc they hate us, and want to avenge their loss this past season.

Biggest thing going for us is we get a BYE before the Bama and the Aggies. (both are having huge losses on their O-line which IMO was one of their main weapons). And Arky is having to build from the ground up, but they always scare me regardless of record.

Don't have to have a spectacular offense. You do need to be able to turn it on when it's necessary though.

I completely agree.
Just imagine if even half those drops didnt happen or maybe if 5 of those deep balls that Mett overthrew were complete.

quote:

I really find it amusing that Miles' quarterbacks had no problems at OSU and the first few years he was here... high flying explosive offenses we the norm. What has changed so much?

Bc we dont need a QB to throw the ball 35 times a game for 350 yards to win games. This isnt the Big12. We count on our defense. We run the ball to keep the other team's offense off the field and when our run game (i.e. O-line play) is gelling, our passing game is there.

Sure Mett missed a lot of throws but there was a lot of drops this year and an o-line that couldnt stay consistent in pass protection.
We have the luxury of having a genius in the Chief and an embarrassment of riches on our defense that I would imagine Miles lacked while at OSU.

Our offense only really needs 4-5 scoring drives a game for us to be successful bc its not often our D lets up more than 20 points.

Our team is built to hold on to the ball longer than our opponent and challenge them when they actually get the ball to try to score on our D. Our biggest issue this year was floundering in the redzone and inconsistent O line play.

our running game will be fine next year, despite whos running the ball.

plus the state is LOADED with talent for next yr, esp at running back

I doubt he gets enough PT to improve his stock as a RB. and I dont think an NFL team would be using him as a returner
LSU reloads. Period. The term rebuilding should never be muttered when talking about our program.

Our staff recruits not only studs that can come in right away and compete, but they recruit our needs.

The Faggies are losing their top defender who was a monster and Johnny Football is going to say goodbye to his 2 OTs that are 1st rounders. UGA is losing the meat of their defense and most likely Murray. Bama is losing alot of talent along both their lines. UF is losing offensive weapons and they defensive studs.

Reid, Mingo, Montgomery- all were expected to leave prior to this year
Simon- surprising but looks like he could be a late 2nd or 3rd round pick (doubt his stock would improve drastically)
Loston- a head scratcher, cant dfefend this one ha
Ware, Ford- their stock isnt going anywhere with the stable of backs now ahead of them on the depth chart
Wing- ranked as the #1 punter on the board and looks to be a 5th round pick

The amount of juniors we have leaving is indicative of the talent we sign and our staff coaches up.Yes, its unfortunate from a fans standpoint but this is what happens when you sign top 10 talent year in and year out. It can only excite future recruits about our program:
1. stud recruits want/expect to play early and often
2. proves to them that our program is a spring board to the NFL

(fun fact, since 2006, no other SEC program has had more NFL draft picks.. yes even more than Satan down in T-town)

Overall, The Chief is still running our Defense so quit worrying. We had a lot of freshmen get PT this year. Our Offense, however, anemic it may seem at times will be greatly improved next season. Look at the Bama or SC game when our OLine won the battle in the trenches, if they play as they are expected, our offense runs great. The o-line hopefully wont be getting shuffled so much this year and all other starters return.
