I don't know alot about basketball, but it seems as if CJ's early struggles were a catalyst to some of these poor starts. If CJ can't hit open shots, it clogs stuff up for BI and Zion. And Herb isn't reliable from the outside to counter when CJ has a bad start. Trey is starting to look human (we knew this was coming) and the other 2nd-liners are playing from behind when this happens. If the starters can get it going an get a lead, the 2nd-liners will extend it against most teams. I think they'll be ok.

If you had asked me before the season if I’d be ok with 5-4 I’d have said yes, but the losses to LA and the Hawks sting a bit, so I’d say in-between. First two months were always going to be an evaluation period setting up potential moves at the trade deadline for a playoff run.
Slightly disappointed that we have not been dominant, other than the Nets opener, in order to get more run for Daniels. Hayes, to this point has not stepped up in the role the team is clearly lacking (rim runner/protector), and the Pels have somewhat reverted back to CJ, BI, and Zion taking turns running the offense.
Hopeful that the team is learning to play with one another and starts building a more cohesive unit. The opportunity for a contention is now.

Yeah I really haven't mentioned CJ, but he has probably been the most disappointing of anyone.

Looks like Zion will be a GTD for tonight's game with Pacers.

I did not expect it.
some other teams already are a cohesive unit.
that's why preseason guesses of 50 or 60 wins seemed unrealistic expectations.

i'm pissed we lost to the lakers and hawks. those were two VERY winnable games (for different reasons). the jazz are good, they beat the pels straight up. same as the suns

Defense and sloppy passing has been concerning, both of those should be correctable though.

Kevin O'Connor has a new article out on the Pels that probably deserves it's own thread, but in it he mentions CJ has an injured finger on his shooting hand. Had we heard that? I don't remember any reports on it, but that would explain the poor shooting so far.

he’s averaging more points and almost twice as many assists as he did in Portland—and that’s despite him nursing a middle finger injury on his shooting hand that has limited his play.

Yeah, I'm not worried about CJ at all. He still has the handles and has had spurts where he has single-handedly put the team on his back. The shots will fall more consistently.

Yea, he was on the injury report for it and Ive seen his finger taped in one of his post game presser. He also had a cup of ice when he would dip.his finger into it.

Going into the season I thought 5-4 through nine would be okay/decent. 6-3 would have been pretty good.
Losing the LA game hurts but I wouldn't say I'm disappointed.
For some perspective, 5-4 through nine is one of the best starts in hornicans history.

quote:This makes so much sense, and speaks to why I was never worried about him. As I've said, he doesn't remotely look like he's lost a step. He gets to all his spots, everything about his game this season looks solid...except the shot falling.
but in it he mentions CJ has an injured finger on his shooting hand.
So this makes complete sense based on what we've seen.

I was wondering when this would drop, thanks.
Probably does deserve a thread.
KOC mentioned on his podcast he spent some extensive time in New Orleans watching and basically talking to everyone in the organization. You could also tell he's been watching us cause his complaints on the podcast literally sounded like he grabbed them from this board. Wondering why Jose is not getting more run, questioning if it is the players or Willie for why in multiple games our guys seemed to be unaware of the late game situation like trey guarding the paint when they needed a 3.
Overall he seemed optimistic and liked us, but curious to read his write up, thanks

I don't see it anywhere.

Generally satisfied but towards more unsatisfied than satisfied.
I guess all things considered we’re doing ok… but those 3 overtime losses.. 2 of them where we’re up with seconds left are hard to swallow…the disappointment comes from not being able to finish those games off in the clutch
7-2 would have me jumping up and down and wouldn’t be an unfair reflection….

I'm optimistic. This team is deep, and our bench has shown they can win games if they need to. We just have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. I think we can still be a top 4 team in the west if we play to our potential.

I figured we'd start the season out slow just because I thought it might take a while for the chemistry to click. But that didn't seem to be an issue right at the start.
We're about where I expected us to be but just for different reason so I'm not complaining. Only thing I'm disappointed in is the approach the training staff is clearly going to keep taking this year. They single handedly lost us the Lakers game. Babying the players is costing us more than it is helping.

I’m somewhere in between. we have 1 loss in regulation which is the same as the Suns, Cavs, and Celtics. Bucks are the only team with less regulation losses
being in every game matters, and being in a lot of close games early in the season is better than being in a lot of close games late. this team will need to learn how to battle through and get wins and i think we’re well positioned to do that
