Missing restaurant types in Baton Rouge

I was thinking about how many Greek & Lebanese, sushi, Indian, Vietnamese, chicken wing, etc. restaurants are in BR. What kind of restaurants do you think Baton Rouge is missing? What exists but isn’t well done or is underrepresented?
I would like to see a good Korean BBQ place open up. With all the Asian food we have I’m surprised we don’t have a dedicated Korean place.

I had this twice in Baltimore (and lived to tell about it). Fantastic cuisine. The flavors are top notch and the spice level is amazing.

Dunno if I would put Indian in this category.
I wish we had more

Japanese. True Japanese, not just random Asians with a bamboo mat and some cream cheese. I'd love to combine all of the so called Japanese restaurants in Baton Rouge for one authentic Japanese place which features dishes like sukiyaki, shabu-shabu, oyakodon, oden, chawan mushi and others that you've probably never heard of because those Japanese dishes have been all but lost in Americanized sushi joint translation.

Hot pot would be good, but probably not well supported in a place like Baton Rouge

My wife and I have discussed several times about the lack of a Korean BBQ place here. I think that and an Ethiopian place would both do well.

Judging from the recent thread and a visit to BR not long ago there’s a real need for good pizza. We settled for Domino’s and it was disgusting.

That’s on you bubba. There’s a lot of good pizza. Not spectacular, but better than Dominoes.

I agree on the need for Korean, I'd like a Spanish too, Solera is OK, but their paella lacks a decent socarrat.

agreed. Every time I see a tapas restaurant, I know it will be overdone and miss the mark.
Slightly different topic; Ive always thought that a "light" bar with minimal tapas would be a huge hit in BR. Not a restaurant. Not an extravagant bar. Just something with a decent beer, wine, liquor selection that handed out small plates of olives, ham, bread...tapas. A place you'd go after work or before going out for a quick drink and snack

From reading this forum it sounds like the pizza blows arse. It’s a recurring topic, not just a recent theme. Maybe start there.
Can’t imagine the level of abhorrent pizza reading threads here over the years.
