Trick or treating with my son in my neighborhood tonight. He has gone to a few trunk or treats already too.

Having multiple events where your kids dress up and get candy isn’t a good thing. It takes away from the build up and potency of Halloween night. When your kid already has a bucket full of candy a week before Halloween and has already done the dress up thing multiple times, you think they’re anywhere close to excited as we were for Halloween night? When they get back from trick or treating on Halloween, are they dumping out all their candy to take inventory and trade with their friends, treating it like gold, or are they just plopping it on the kitchen counter and going back to playing video games?

I suppose this is a troll but my kids have always gone door to door on Halloween. If parents want to do it differently, that fine. And, it's not one of the most special times for a kid. It's a good time, but not really "special."

OP, idk why you’re being downvoted so bad on here.

Apparently old people are mad that they’re getting called out on their shite. I know I used to trick or treat and every house would be giving out candy. Tonight I’ll be lucky if my kids get 1/3 of the houses in our neighborhood. All the old folks hiding in their houses to avoid giving out candy and mingling with neighbors

Good

Us millenials have had to work hard every day of our lives to pay the boomers social security

Kids these days don’t know how good they have it

Halloween should not be a carefully planned, controlled event where old people force kids to engage in Halloween on the old people's terms. Halloween is Halloween and old people should deal with it and give the kids the Halloween they got when they were kids!
The world today is not the same as it was back then when we did it. Too many crazies out there I'm all for kids having fun as long as its done safely and no I'm not some super ultra protective parent but having kids go unsupervised during the night is very unwise.

I have no idea what you're yelling about. My nieghborhood streets will be packed with kdis being kids and going door to door tonight

Just because they go to a Saturday trunk or treat doesn't mean they don't also trick or treat on Halloween night... and if that is the case, frick those parents.

Side note: Crazy Baptist parents that take kids to "fall fests" tonight arfe the real ones committing a sin!

You really believe the good lord just invented crazy? Psychos have been snatching up kids since the beginning of time.

Is this ANOTHER made up issue Fox is scaring old people with? I've never seen a group of internet tough guys so scared of imaginary BS. Whatever gets em to vote right?

We are robbing our children of one of the most special times of being a child. There's nothing like trick or treating on Halloween night. Seeing mobs of kids all walking the dark streets at the same time, having nearly all houses in all neighborhoods with their lights on inviting trick or treaters, and being able to look forward to that night every year without having to ask "what night are we allowed to trick or treat this year?"

Im 53, I grew up in a huge middle class neighborhood.

My kids have ten times the fun we had.....they trick or treat in mobs, on trailers, golf carts, walk 10 abreast. Then they come back, we have food, chili, gumbo, music playing and they run wild in the yards.

Yes, there are more coordinated events, but here at least they trick or treat their asses off and get that good candy.

Most parents lurk nearby. It was as fun for me as the kids.

Some local places offer drinks for parents, like airline size bourbon bottles.

I can remember when we took our candy to be X-Rayed at the local hospital during the “they’re putting razors in your candy” 80s phase.

In all seriousness, I think part of the problem is lazy parents who don’t want to walk far with their younger kids. I can remember trick or treating multiple neighborhoods with friends with parents following along

All data suggests that the world is much safer than it was in the past for kids.

Most of the shite that gets kids in trouble now a days is of their own doing.

The candy quality is much better. shite, we had to roll other kids to get enough good candy.
