Well done. Someone should make a political ad with that in it.

Big ingredient is price gouging us.

People are dumb if they think inflation is only at 8-10%. That's laughable.
Literally every metric has doubled.

Damn butter has gone up to $5 a pound.. This Thanksgiving is going to cost a whole lot more this year..
For the last few years the grocery stores have run a deal that if you spend X amount of dollars you can get a turkey for .39 a pound.. I have a feeling that is not going to happen this year..

If you want to have turkey this year you should buy it now. Prices will be high if you are even able to buy them.

Loaf of french bread was $1 forever, now $1.47. That is not 8% inflation.

I don’t disagree but another factor is business owners (especially those with a geographic monopoly or oligopoly) looking for excuses to jack prices up and say “Well, I hate to do it, but this damn inflation.”
ETA why the downvotes?
Y’all are kidding yourselves if think businesses like independently owned gas station and grocery store chains in rural areas aren’t using this situation to not only keep the profit margins they’re used to but also increase them.

But no more mean tweets. Its ok if the poor suffer as long as suburban white women have good feels.

And they say inflation is only 8% from a year ago.
It’s more like 50% for most goods. And that list is just basic staples

That’s not true at all. Businesses aren’t more greedy today than they were yesterday. They have no clue what their true costs are going to be because they’re rapidly rising and what they expect their costs to be may not be anything like they actually are. They either have to Jack up prices or risk losing money. The cure for high prices has always been high prices…..until the government gets involved, and you’re seeing that now.

Was talking to the manager of a local Albertsons & asked him if grocery prices would ever go down, inflation or otherwise. He just smiled & shook his head "no". Guy was shopping for tailgating Sat. & he was laffing on the phone...3 large bags of chips, with tax, almost $28.And bags 3/4 full, the rest air.

Please tell us what real world experience you have in these pricing discussions to validate your theory.

Canned vegetables (generic brand) have gone from $.70 to $.90 (29%).
It’s only $.20 a can. C’mon man!
