"Daniels needs to throw it downfield" narrative comparison

The whole "Daniels needs to throw it down field" narrative is honestly more talked about than in 2011 when there was the "read option with Jefferson will work again against Bama" narrative. Literally all anyone talked about and it obviously blew up in our faces.
Now, we've basically had the fans, media, the head coach, a players meeting, and the player himself (Daniels) all mention publicly within a two day span that we are going to need throw the ball more and "trust our receivers". I don't think Tennessee is going to be utterly shocked if we decide to pass more against what they know is a weaker secondary. I've honestly changed my mind in the last 6 hours and think we should pound the rock and scramble into oblivion because it's so obvious what we are about to try and do on offense lmao.

I dont think its necessarily a "down field" issue, the dude just needs to throw the ball period.
He cant take the hits he's taking and survive all season. He's already left 2 games.

JD is dangerous enough with his legs that if they just neglect the run all game he will tear them apart. They can’t just gameplan that we’re only gonna pass.

read option is NOT a zone read.

I dont take all the talk as "we have to force a pass offense" i take it more as them acknowledging he cant always take the safe play and try to play mistake free over going for a score.
If WRs are in man vs man and 1v1 gotta take the chance the WR can beat their man and make the play over always taking a safe check down. Not were gonna keep passing over and over and over til it works.

I wish everyone would take the time to go watch the sky cast view of the Auburn game and see how it affects their opinion of Daniels performance. The entire “won’t throw the ball downfield” is vastly overblown.
Many of the plays nobody was open at all and the route trees look way to east to cover. Others, the pass protection collapsed before receivers were even close to breaking their routes. Not to mention the numerous drops.
He made a couple of bad throws and a few bad reads, yes.
But those drops don’t occur and he makes just 2 or 3 better decisions and he would have had a very good game.
Hopefully it gets corrected, from a scheme standpoint, improvement by JD, and the receivers.

Haha! I said the same thing the last couple days... We have a dynamic runner QB and a couple good RB's. We could run the zone read all day on them and force them to stack the box and open up the throwing lanes if needed. If they are not stopping it and we were ahead then I would keep doing it and burn clock to keep Huepel's offense off the field.
Another take I came up with was if LSU does not want JD to run so much then run his arse off the first qtr or so and get it out of his system...

if you use SOME option against 2011 Bama, it will work.
if you use ONLY option against them, you see what happened on 1/9/12
if Daniels takes SOME shots down field, it will help this offense.
if he just chucks it deep every play, we will suck worse than we do now.

Dink and dunk and screens in the flats have to mixed in with other plays to get the defense off expectations. We'll never compete with upper-echelon teams without doing this.
Offense needs to air it out 4-6 times per game or we will never really have anything close to resembling a successful offense.

If you can impose your will and run you should always do that. The problem is Tennessee isn't bad against the run but they're struggle mightily against the pass.
It seems a bit goofy to not to try to exploit their obvious weakness.

Any DC worth his salt isn’t going to change his approach until we can prove we can do what we’re talking about. Until Daniels actually does it nobody’s going to respect it.

The Tennessee DC doesn't read the rant for scouting reports. They already know Jayden is a bad qb. They already know he wants to run. Having a qb/wr meeting after the 5th game of the season lets you know how things have disintegrated.
None of the wr's wanted to listen to Jayden Saturday night on the sidelines. He lost their ears. He knows it. Now he has do something about it.

You might be right about pounding the rock but that’s only an option if the defense can get stops. I wonder just how healthy JD is right now. They didn’t pull him out at crunch time on the road out of precaution. Hopefully he’s 100% because if he can’t run he won’t be effective.

It’s talked about for good reason. We are 2/15 or something for passes that are more than 15 yards in the air. That’s terrible.
TN pass defense is skewed by UF. Most teams have thrown for 260 on average. Not good but not 128th. They’ve only given up 5 passing TDs. Their scoring defense isn’t bad. Nor is rushing d.

So we should do what we've done every game so far? Yeah, i'm sure the other coaches surely aren't going to gameplan for that...

If he took more advantage of his known penchant to tuck and run and kept his eyes downfield he would find wide open receivers behind the defenders that are rushing up to tackle the known running back. Burrow did it a couple of times in crucial situations and JD could really make some huge plays

It’s a very conservative offense. Seems like Daniels only throws it when he feels he has to. Our defense has been so great, he hasn’t had to much to win games.
