re: SIAP, but what incentive is there to be a TAF member anymore if you're not a $100K donor?

I think you at least get to "pick from corso" ncaa style. Toss dive is an option

Very few. Less than 5%. Assuming a person gives 10% of their income to TAF, which is a stretch, they would need to make at least $250k a year, which is about 4% of Americans. And let’s be frank, someone making $250-300k isn’t giving 10% of that to LSU. The reality is TAF is changing their focus from alumni and middle-class boosters to high-wealth and corporate donors. It’s kind of sad, really.

Lawyers, doctors executive management, entrepreneurs, etc

I would say it is more for successful private business owners who are trying to avoid the IRS. We have a successful business that comes with a big tax problem. We have pursued multiple avenues to minimize our liability. I am not an OAKS member but I see the appeal.

For the OP, I said the same thing as you did back in 2009 after starting with TAF in 2006 on a $50,000 salary, and now I am ranked in the 1400's. My advice is to donate every year at least $100, and if later in life you are doing well and can afford it donate $5000 or more, or become a member of the OAKS to get the most bonus point benefits.

Since joining in 2006 I have donated a total amount of around $18,000, so I am not a big donor but have been rewarded for being a loyal donor.

In down years or timeframes of football, you will move up much faster due to lack of public interest.

But honestly if you wanted tickets this year you had many options without donating anything. You probably could have gobbled up yellow chair backs in the lower bowl.

That's how you fund a top level football program. Those perks are modeled after the successful program the TAF president ran at UGA and donations in year 1 are already at an all time high.

Supply has far exceeded demand even in good years now. it’s really not a challenge to get tickets and unless it’s a championship game in NOLA postseason tickets are incredibly easy to get

Ticket access really should no longer be a motivating factor in donating. Probably why they’ve had to shift their focus

I am not a rich man either. I am an alumnus and fan; that is why I contribute even though my level of giving does not provide me with any benefits.

25 grand gets you some gear and access to closed scrimmages.

Man, inflation is worse than I thought!

Yeah, with Skip, it seemed like $100 got you a key to the facilities.

You’re supposed to be donating to benefit the team, not yourself...just like JFK said.

Wait what?

So donating $100 a year no longer gets you 3 points?

Except that says 4 points per $1000 given. It used to be when you donated $100 you got 3 full bonus points plus your fractional points. That would add up. For instance I donated $100 a year through school and after school. So about 9 years of modest giving. That was enough to get away game tickets basically anytime I wanted them as well as seats in the lower bowl. It also got me tickets to the peach bowl and national championship game.

Anyone that thinks TAF is about them is confused. It's about team , sacrifice and alignment.

Well, I’m a lawyer. Lead counsel in my state for a major company with a very nice salary and bonus structure and I can’t afford that. Not a brag, just to illustrate a point. My PCP and kids pedestrian make about the same and couldn’t afford to give 100k over 5 years either. They’re really targeting business owners and the wealthy top 1%. We’re talking Chicken money here.

The amounts listed are over a 5 year period. So pay out 25 k over five years with min. 20% (5k) down at the start. Adjust the contribution as needed annually, probably in coordination with CPA recommendation

It's a pledge to pay within five years. I used to enjoy the pre-game locker room and facilities tour. Now do to that, you have to pledge to pay a total of 100K within five years, with 20% down the first year, or 20K.
