Backstory - In Houston - Double Tree hotel near the galleria. Valet parked - 2022 F250, king ranch. Wake up the next morning, go to get truck, it’s gone.

Who is liable for this? Anyone have a similar situation?

It depends. Did you pay for garaging/ parking? Was there a disclaimer of liability?

Property owner is always liable. Get a good attorney.

ETA- But your insurance will end up paying for it

As far as you are concerned it’s your insurance company….if they feel as though the hotel is liable they will subrogate it to them. IE…the hotel will pay your insurance company back if they are found liable.

Make sure you include the value of your truck nuts in the claim.

were valet employees involved in the jacking of the truck... that would be a game changer.

They can't disclaim negligence. I'm sure you have insurance but you may need to file suit for other damages (e.g. incidentals, difference in value compared to what insurance pays, etc..). Need an attorney to send a letter once your insurance decides what to do.

If you have insurance covering the truck, contact your insurance company. They will pay you, and then go after who is responsible.

Same thing happened to this guy back in 2015 (probably same hotel)

Cliffs: hotel said "we aren't responsible, we contract the valet services out to a different company"

File with your insurance company and they will decide to sue the parking garage to get their money back. IF you go it alone and want to sue the parking garage yourself good luck with getting anything for a few years and running up legal bills.

Easy way: claim with your insurance and let them pursue the valet company’s insurer

OT Baller way: buy new truck with cash, hire high priced counsel, sue the hotel and the valet company conducting extensive discovery to see how many prior cars were stolen, what their security entails to determine if it is inadequate, etc. Win but it’ll cost you legal costs and attorney fees, hourly or contingency.

Had my catalytic converters stole off my truck in Houston Memorial area last month. Truck was right in front of the hotel main entrance and they still hit it.

Houston is becoming a shite hole.
