I can tell some of these baws didn’t fight to get gas after ida. I’m not saying electric vehicles don’t have problems, they obviously do, but nothing is perfect.

The war on electricity is baffling. This place use to love coal miners.

Just plug in into your house. Should have a generator anyway.

Then after the storm passes do you think you will be able to get gas anywhere unless they also have electricity (even if the station is on a generator)?
Which do you think is more easily prepared for right now? LOL

I don't understand the sentiment. It will be very easy to make sure your EV is fully charged prior to the storm. How much energy do you need in your vehicle post-storm?

I’m not anti-electric car per se. I wouldn’t mind owning one as a 2nd vehicle.
I am anti-EV positive propaganda which we seem to inundated with on a daily basis.
And I am against the delusion that EV’s are ‘good for the environment’

quote:This makes tremendous sense to me. Own it because you like it, not because you believe it is some kind of statement of environmental virtue. It is not. In an indirect manner, it relies on fossil fuels as well to produce the necessary "fuel" to operate.
For me, I like the car. It’s a technologically advanced luxury vehicle that goes fast as hell.

As an added bonus, I don’t have to spend time at gas stations with unwashed masses, and every morning I wake up with a “full tank”.

I can throw some big gas cans in my truck bed and roll out

People own all sorts of shite as status symbols. Rolex, Ford Platinums, Ray Bans, JennAir appliances, ProV1 golf balls.
Just part of life.

Hey do you think it's harder to find gas or electricity in Tampa right now? Then after the storm passes do you think you will be able to get gas anywhere unless they also have electricity (even if the station is on a generator)?
Depends. Is your house out of power for weeks? Then it will be harder to charge your vehicle.

Why do you dipshits act like gas cans are some superpower for gas vehicles when the pumps run out, and act like being able to charge an EV at literally any livable structure, whether it's powered from the grid or diesel or natgas generator or solar or whatever the frick, just isn't possible? You can even just tow the damned thing for 10 miles then it can drive itself for another 40-50 miles from the regen braking charge.
So you are saying you are going to use a gas powered generator to charge your vehicle? I thought you couldn’t get gas?
Just face it, Evs suck. And so do you.

I did but also filled up gas cans and all the vehicles before hand.
But I didn’t have an issue finding gas. Way more gas stations than ev charging stations.
But I’d been fricked in an ev considering my charger would have been in New Orleans. where I didn’t have power for 3 weeks.

Can you plug them in to an ordinary 110 outlet?
Sure if you have a couple days to wait for a full charge. I think teslas get around 1-2 miles of range per hour off a standard 20 amp 110v outlet

quote:Yes, after a hurricane. During this time gas stations are slow to get resupplied, but my neighborhood absolutely hums with generators when the power is out. Any EVs in my 'hood will start every day with a full charge after a storm.
After a hurricane?
quote:Actually I do. You seem not to, though.
Not much experience with storm aftermaths huh?

quote:Yes I know. I also know that supplies of gasoline will be slowed/interrupted, but that natgas generators will be humming and off-grid-capable solar panels will be putting out.
Ummmmm, 2/3 of the state has a fricking Cat 4 barreling straight up the entire western coastline. It’ll still be a Cat 1 24 hours after landfall. The hurricane will cover the entire lower part of the state below the panhandle. There will be places without power for weeks.
quote:So? My entire argument is that they can if they have to, but that they can also "fuel up" using whatever else is available.
EV owners are about to rely on gas a helluva lot more than you realize.
This ain't hard, folks.

As long as their cybertruck's bed can hold a generator, they never have to stop
