Are CPAP machines easy to sleep with? It seems like you would lose more sleep with a mask over your face versus a couple of times holding your breath at night.

Most people adapt to it after a break in period and the notice of improved sleep keeps them going.

For the people who don't tolerate, the inspire implant is a very good option now

ny CPAP users in here?
No, but you might want to try mouth taping while you sleep before getting into all of the CPAP stuff. I've seen multiple people get off of using them with simple taping.

Waiting for mine. So I need the "In" gif here.

Peak number of waking per hour was 20. That was just one hour.

But only a couple of lbs overweight. After all, they did lift some weights two decades ago

I’ve felt sluggish throughout the day for what seems like all of my adult life. I thought it was normal to need several cups of coffee or energy drinks. A nap for me is anywhere from 1-2 hours. I can sleep in until 2PM on a weekend without even trying.

Overall, my diet isn’t bad, but I’ve put on some pounds in my adult years. I could stand to drop a few. I’m not sure if this is a chicken or egg scenario, but I napped and slept in during my skinnier days.

Before the OT comes in with the "how big a baw are you?"

My older brother is a tall string bean who doesn't drink and works on his feet all day in a hospital. He found out he had sleep apnea after his heart raced out of left field one day at work. Turned out sleep apnea can cause that. He had no idea as he doesn't really snore much at all.

I encourage anyone to download a Sleep App like SnoreLab. I used it about 10 times over last two years to analyze my snores. You just turn on a session and set your phone down like normal at night. Obviously the closer you set the phone to your head the better.
The app pics up breathing sounds and snoring very well and even the free version gives you plenty enough data to help you decide if you should get a real sleep study done. You can turn up the volume in your earbuds and clearly listen to your breathing, or lack thereof, as well as all of your snoring episodes. It's not scientific or anything but if you hear yourself go quiet for seconds at a time between exhale and inhale, you should probably get a study done.

I tried it and couldn’t tolerate it. The mask always ended up on the floor. I’m exploring the inspire implant. Tired of being tired.

I have used one a couple of years. Forgot my score, but it was terrible. I stopped breathing every couple of minutes. I woke all during the night, woke up tired, would nap if I sat still very long. From day one, never had any trouble assimilating to the mask. I never wake up during the night, no naps, more energy. I won't sleep without it.

Been about 10 months since I got mine. "Only" had 6 or 7 incidents an hour doc said that was low end of needing one. Also, mentioned most of his military patients are younger and relatively fit. Injuries often lead to modified sleep postures and obstructed breathing without being overweight etc. Total game changer should have gone on sooner. I ignored good advice from friends and just coped with headaches and fatigue thinking "I'm no fattie, can't be sleep apnea."

This is my second go around trying it. I kept ripping my mask off in the middle of night the first go around. Returned it back when insurance company “ audited the device. Just started with the new unit and I’m taking sleep aid so I can adjust to it. I do like the mask but I don’t have a defined nasal bridge which is causing some issue.

Make sure you get your prescription. Most people find you can buy a CPAP online for less then the copay for insurance.

You will need to send a copy of your prescription to order online.

I don’t use one but if I did I can not sleep on my back without having continuous nightmares. I sleep on my side with the wife on my back and on a good night will be asleep in 60 seconds. If she doesn’t then about a hour. Doc has told me I might need one since my heart rate gets so low when I’m in the hospital they have to turn the alarms off, but we’ll see.

I’d probably be dead if not for my cpap. I have a small throat opening (should have gotten my tonsils out), as n Dad terrible sinus issues. My weight is not a problem but I’m trying to lose some lbs.
