Welcome!

Could not believe how poorly I slept until my sleep study.

Good luck.

I have had one for 18 years now. Best sleep ever and seasonal allergies (sinusitis/pharyngitis) which used to hit me twice a year do not affect me anymore. Also, the air you breathe is filtered. The ol’ lady can fart all night and you would never know.

My father passed this year. He began using a CPAP machine in 1992.

He wouldn’t have made it past the mid 90’s without it. You will be glad you have it.

I e used one since a stroke back in 2016. It’s made a big difference in how much real sleep I’m getting.

Now I cannot go to sleep at all without it.

Best advice I can give is stick with it, because it can a long time to get used to it. I almost gave up several times, but I’m glad I didn’t because once I got the routine down it was a life changer. I sleep with it every damn night, can’t go without it

Also if one mask isn’t working for you, just try another style. I know the pillows are popular, but I’m one of the few who does the full mask that covers nostrils and mouth. And I can even sleep on my side with it

I was kind of surprised to learn that "remembering your dreams" is a pretty good indicator of sleep apnea.

We all dream but, we dream during REM sleep. If you are awakened during this period you will "remember your dreams".

If you do not wake up during REM sleep you will not "remember your dreams".

I like most people these days am a few pounds overweight (30) and this is certainly a contributor to sleep apnea.

I was skeptical about using a CPAP initially but after using it for just a few days I am a believer.

CPAP changes lives and actually can extend your life by years.

My wife told me I would stop breathing my my sleep and heard how great cpap machines are. I didn’t do a sleep study but I bought one.

Couldn’t do it. It was blasting too much air. It would wake me up cuz I couldn’t exhale properly.

The machine needs to be calibrated to the user

You should see a sleep doc and do a sleep study. They can adjust the pressure per your results

I've had 1 for about 4 weeks. I can't stand it for more than 1h30m. I'm trying most nights but I can't NOT focus on my breathing. And that focus gets me WIDE AWAKE & I can't fall asleep. I end up ripping it off, rolling over, then going to sleep.
I'm getting really pissed thinking I'll never adjust.

I got one, but couldn’t use it. I’d tear it off in the middle of the night. Can’t sleep with something on my face.

I can not sleep without it. Was awkward at first but eventually became part of me and has been for 18 years.

Yup.. huge difference maker for me. Every day I was ready for bed by 2-3pm.. Id fall asleep sitting next to my kid's tub while my wife bathed him.. doze off at the dinner table. Miserable.

Now I am awake and alert all day.

What you just described is deadly accurate for me.

Sounds like I need to go get a sleep study.

It is life changing, but after about 10 years with one I'm so sick of cleaning it, packing it, buying new masks, etc. It is still the 1st thing I pack and the 1st thing I unpack, but I'm considering the implant thing.
