Really worried about how our dog will do- the winds are supposed to be at least tropical storm force for 36-48 hrs so I have no idea how we will take him out.

Baw, go get some doggie pee pads. He'll likely use them. It's not too late to get the hell out either, Sarasota is definitely in the oh shite zone. I personally would not stay for this...

Got some. But he’s a stubborn little dude and probably will refuse to use them

These threads and all of the incredible data, imaging, and forecasting always make me think about what it must have been like 100 years ago for coastal communities. No warning. “Honey, it looks like rain today”

Leave the ice cream, grab the dog and hit the road. It really isn’t too late.

Seriously a motel 8 in Baton Rouge is better than what is about to happen down there.

FYI - Station 42095 (Satan Shoal) is 14 miles southwest of Key West...

I know for Hurricane Michael it was beautiful two days before it landed and the day before it hit other than some clouds you would’ve had no idea what was offshore.

Between that, no AC and the mosquitos I can see why the gulf coast wasn’t as populated back then.

Look at the contrast of the 'dry' front in the NW corner of the image and Ian. Both ends of the entire scale only about 250 miles apart.

Ehhh. I live outside BR, and I'm not entirely sure I share your optimism. FLA has severe flooding, wind, and tornadoes. We have random, flying bullets.

I think they had some issues with the next plane that was supposed to go in and it turned back, which really, really sucks.

Dex, if you or anyone else down there changes your mind and heads north on 75, I’m willing to take in pets or help in any way I can from Gainesville.

Sending you all good vibes!
