I have never seen a group of folks who can disagree with so much passion, yet circle the wagons when those same people are in need. It’s actually very touching and restores my faith in humanity.

This is exactly why I joined TG. Haven’t commented in a while, but I read here often. I have never had a group of people support me the way that everyone here did when a hurricane was headed my way and when I had struggles with Covid recovery. I pray for the OP, his children, and that his wife rests in peace.

internal church investigation had concluded that Father Paul Hart had “dry sex” while fully clothed with a 17-year-old girl, but it didn’t violate the church law in place at the time that set 16 as the age of majority.

What? When does the church law EVER allow a priest to have these kind of relations with ANYONE? This is an idiotic statement. Didn’t violate church law because she was 17, not under 16? Infuriating. Also- imagine if you had a kid in that school and then found out later that the church and school knew what he had done and still had him there on campus? There are just so many different things wrong here. I’m no lawyer, but I think that lawyer who was fined is a hero. I realize that he did technically violate his professional ethics and a court order, but non-legally speaking, this man’s a hero.

Man. That’s awesome. I almost didn’t watch the video, but I’m glad I did. So nice to see people being that gracious and kind.

Regis Philbin

He always seemed like such a genuinely good man. Seemed like a true gentleman.

Likewise for you, Dex. I went through Bradenton on the way back, looked like a F1, maybe borderline 2 (very big trees down over about 200 yards) nado hit just NW of town. Was very happy to hear you and yours were OK.

Thanks, man.
Bruce Jenner in ‘88 or ‘89. He was still a man then. He was extremely friendly and had such a cool, fun personality and seemed like such a happy guy. Lots of fun to hang out with for a few hours. He was such an Olympic hero to my generation. Not as impressive as others here, but that’s all I’ve got.

Very cool. Details, please?
Hey! Improving daily. It’s a slow process, but definitely getting a bit better every day. Thanks so much for asking!

This board really is amazing. Thanks to everyone who offered sympathies and condolences, etc.

It truly does lift you and comfort you, doesn’t it? God bless.

tidbits of compassion and well wishes really did make a difference during a very difficult time.

They definitely did. Helped me immensely while it was headed for me. I couldn’t agree more. But, more importantly, I am so very sorry for what you and your family have endured. Just prayed for you.
My laugh. I’m probably too loud most of the time. Other people probably find it obnoxious and irritating.
I’m so very sorry. Just finished praying for you. I truly hope you feel at least a little but of peace and comfort from the prayers that have been offered up for you here and elsewhere.

Life was so much better before cell phones and social media.

Came here to say this. I fought this battle with my kids- but at that time it was Facebook. Parenting is difficult enough, but these struggles over phones and social media make it so much more challenging.

We were both posting that at the same time.
The Way You Look Tonight- Frank Sinatra for the feels

After that- September by Earth, Wind, and Fire :nana: for the fun
Sounds delicious! Thanks for writing that up for me. Very much appreciated!

re: Home remedies for nausea?

I second the ginger ale- especially on ice. Peppermint tea also helped me a lot with nausea from Covid when Zofran didn’t touch it. Hope you feel better.

Well, I hope all will be well with her soon.

talked to my aunt yesterday. She got Covid in late July or early August. She dealt with it for two or three weeks, mainly just a cough and being tired. She got pretty much better, then had a relapse or whatever a couple weeks ago. She said the second go around was worse than the first for her.

Man, that’s rough. I really hope she gets to feeling better soon. This thing is just a beast for some people. Can she identify what triggered her relapse?

Wish I was closer I'd bring you some.

That is so very kind. Thank you for saying that. Thanks for all the encouragement!
Edited: would you mind describing how you make the soup? Notice I didn’t ask for the recipe, because if you cook like I do, it’s probably a little bit different every time.

We made a massive vegetable corn soup.

Really helped with nutrients it seemed. Helped the wife and I recover quickly after being knocked down.

Also pineapple juice will knock the cough out of you have one.

You have to sleep

Thank you for the advice. I’m going to make a massive soup like you described as soon as I can. I threw out a freezer full of food- and one thing was the broths and healthy soups that I make and keep in there. Really missing those now. But that’s a great suggestion and I hope I can have the strength to do that today.
