Yeah with tonight's forecasts taken as a whole, Tampa and Orlando look to get a metric tonnage of rain, with Port Charlotte to Sarasota taking on the wind. No dry air to be seen right now either, which is why some modeling was showing some weakening before landfall.

Still time for some changes but that window is closing soon.

As in 30A Alys Beach?

I do not know the roads around there. I know it's in the panhandle.

I don't know what grades she got in geography. This is something she texted us a couple of days ago when it looked as if the entire peninsula was going to be affected. I'm not sure where it is predicted to go now.

@RyanMaue
NWS forecast maximum wind gusts shifted south from Tampa Bay today.

Coastal major hurricane force > 120 mph

But also inland wind gusts 60-90 mph along I-4 thru Orlando to Daytona.

This would be VERY bad. 927mb right before landfall, with around 930 at landfall.

Damn. Laura was 938.

Yeah, I posted a water vapor shot earlier too. I don't know that I've ever seen such a long arse moisture plume like that. All the way up into the northeast. Insane looking.

Looks like a giant angel's wing.

Will someone just give me a quick understanding of what I can expect to happen to the downtown Tampa area regarding storm surge or anything else I would need to know based on the current info out there on Ian?

Iam saw all those hot Hat Tricks waitresses and decided not to put them out of a job. It is still getting good wind, a little over 100 gusts possible., according to Tampa ABC. You went from 10+ ft of surge to 4-6. Rain estimates vary. Just say a lot. It'll be smoother than you thought when you bailed.

Is it possible the EWR does not take and the thing kinda stays how it is or maybe a little weaker?

It is already close to completing the cycle. It has done so without even really taking a pause in strengthening.
