According to the free links I get with bank / credit accounts, I'm around 815.
From age 30 to almost 40, I carried way too much credit card debt. At its peak it probably approached $50,000. At rock bottom, I had a 530 credit score.
I worked my arse off and paid it all off. Never really paid late or asked for leniency or whatever. Bought a house a couple of years ago, right before prices and interest rates hockey-sticked.
God is good and I might not have to retire under an overpass (or over an underpass).

I rose my credit score from about 550 to 781 in just about 5 years by doing 2 simple things and it’s not really pretty easy if you live within your means.
1. Pay all my bills on time.
2. Get an extra credit card, use it, and pay it off in full every month

My overall credit score was 815. I forgot one 20 dollar payment while I was going through a cross country move, switching jobs, and dealing with sick parents. It's now 741 after bottoming out at 710.
I lost over 100 points of my credit score because I missed one 30 day payment. The system is broken.
I tried to get it knocked off but "there's nothing we can do". I am not a violent man by nature, but I was absolutely rip shite.

I'm also getting on average $100 a month "free" money in cash back by doing that.
If $100 a month extra money is something that moves the needle for you, then I guess it’s worthwhile. But that just doesn’t make a difference for me. It’s inconsequential in the long run.

Something isn’t right here. It doesn’t drop 100 points because “you missed one $20 payment” lol

It took you five years to do this? This seems off

Why would I lie about this? Is it somehow cool to get screwed by the system after over 20 years of never missing a payment?
If it wasn't one of the most idiotic things a person could do, I'd post the graph tracking my credit score, as well as the provided explanation on why it dropped.

There has to be more going on with this. I have missed a CC payment or phone bill before just by being busy and thinking had paid that month when I didn't and I never took a hit. My score at the moment is 811 and hovers in that area constantly. IMO the credit score shite is a scam. I get that they need a way to weed out the deadbeats but you shouldn't be penalized for paying your bills and carrying zero debt.

Because you fricked something else up and are embarrassed about it? I don’t know.
But like poster below said. This seems way off.
If two peoples first reactions are, “that doesn’t seem right” then you’re probably making shite up.

Debt free, cash flush and I don't need to borrow money for anything so I don't care what my score is.

Last time I checked it was so high that it broke the scale. It actually crashed the FICO computer system, first time in history. I apologize profusely about the whole thing, and they told me not to be sorry because shooters shoot
