I may be poor but I pay my fricking bills. Only time I've dropped below 800 in that last decade is because I let my wife handle finances for about a year.

My paw paw died with no credit score in 2017 or so at almost 100. He used to get so pissed having to pay a deposit for cable etc

Man never had a credit card, never borrowed a dime in his life.

Highest I've ever achieved was a 798.

I got a good rate on my girlfriends Kia Forte.

For those with a credit score less potent than the OP, I will say within the last 10 years my credit score has been in the low 600s or high 500s and is now 830. Most people go through financial shite and don’t kill it from the jump. Keep grinding and learning from your mistakes or misfortunes.

You don't need an 800 credit score. All it does is buy you a little more cushion from having a 675. You'll get all of the same loans and rates with a 740 as they do.

But why? I pay my credit card off every month so I incurred no interest.

I'm also getting on average $100 a month "free" money in cash back by doing that.

This man gets it. This also the reason I dropped below 800 recently. Dumped an old card that I wasn't really using anymore for a new one that allowed me to save several hundred dollars off of a recent purchase that is in line with my current needs and will continue to do similar on future transactions. In total, I have 3 cards that I use regularly to maximize saving money/cash back. I absolutely never swipe a debit card anywhere anymore. It's stupid to do so because you're leaving money on the table by doing so for almost every transaction.

So you are getting roughly 1.5% cash back on your card.

Mining the personal information of the O-T? Waste of time. No one here really has money or good credit.
