Gustavo Arnal, an executive vice president and the chief financial officer of Bed Bath and Beyond, was identified as the man who plunged from the 18th floor of a New York City skyscraper on Friday, according to a report.

Arnal, 52, jumped from a tower in Manhattan’s Tribeca section known as the "Jenga Building," the New York Post first reported, citing police sources.

So I'm guessing BBBY is bullish this week?

Smart move , right? His heirs can inherit risk free, right? No claw back as he can no longer stand trial in civil court.

Sad very sad.

I wonder if he knew something or someone got to him.

A class action lawsuit was filed alleging that he and Cohen orchestrated a pump and dump. Not sure how relevant this is to him taking his own life because lawsuits like this get filed all the time against companies with very volatile stock but the details alleged don't look good:

quote:

Cohen purchased a large stake in BBBY, including call options, on more than 1.6 million BBBY shares with a strike price between $60 and $80 in what, according to the lawsuit, was a "classic attempt to spark a gamma squeeze, in exchange for Gustavo’s (dead guy) assurance that Insiders would not flood … the market with the stock."

BBBY stock climbed from $4.38 per share on July 1, 2022, to $30 per share on Aug. 17, 2022. Between March and August, Cohen, Gustavo, and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC — another defendant in the lawsuit — discussed their plan of hyping the stock and exiting their positions of BBBY shares at some point, according to the lawsuit.

Yep, Arnal, Cohen and Freeman all dumped their stock on the same 2 day peak and made millions.

Cohen and Freeman completely sold out of their position, Arnal “only” sold 50,000 shares because (I presume) it would look pretty bad for the CFO of the company to completely sell off his position as the company is tanking.

Suicide is sad and not a joking matter but this dude’s actions leading up to his death certainly stink of something.

Sure the jokes are a little crass, but why should an anonymous poster be more considerate of Arnal’s wife & kid than he was when he jumped?

That is the sad part.

His greed and chasing money for a better life, ended up destroying him and his family. I hope the kids would rather have their daddy than all that money.
