“every pass Jamie Howard threw in the 4th quarter of the ‘94 Auburn game”

Agreed, however, keep in mind the HC was Curley Hallman and the OC was Lynn Amedee. Enough said.

On Sept. 11, 1999, at home, all Kevin Steele had to do as Baylor’s head coach is take a knee at the UNLV 8 yard line to win. He doesn’t. Tries to run the score up. Ball comes loose into the end zone. UNLV picks it up and 100 yards later Baylor loses the game 27-24.

I had this game in mind but couldn't remember when it was or the teams involved.

This was a head scratcher. USC played their asses off all game but shite the bed in the last few seconds.

The kick 6
I don't think the Kick 6 was dumb, just terrible luck. I mean, nobody really rationally thought Auburn would (1) return that kick at all and (2) return it for a TD.

Just really bad luck, but not a dumb play because Bama had a chance to win the game on that kick and 57 yards is very long, but not insanely long for today's kickers.

Several years ago some team (think was the Colts playing the Pats) lined up to punt. They shifted to a swinging gate formation and the punter went under center with 2-3 defenders just breathing down his neck at the LOS. Snapped the ball and tried to run a frickin’ QB sneak 3-4 solid yards from the marker and got stuffed. Never had a chance. And to make it even uglier I think the whole offensive line was off the LOS in an illegal formation.

Joe Pisarchick for the New York Giants handing the ball off with seconds left and with the lead against the Eagles and he fumbles the hand off.

Eagles return it for a TD and the win

Dumbest/worst plays in football

In general: The 3 yard pass on 3rd and 8

Specifically: The last play of Kevin Steele's first game as Baylor head coach. Holding a 24-21 lead with :05 left and the ball at the UNLV 1, Steele decided that he wanted his team to establish a culture of toughness. Instead of taking a knee, they ran a dive play up the middle. The RB fumbled at the goal line, and UNLV ran it back 100 yards for the winning touchdown as time expired.

This is by far, the worst play call ever

Someone explain how this was supposed to work

IIRC, it was never supposed to be snapped. They were going to either draw them off or take the delay of game and punt.

the game goes to OT and Alabama probably wins.

I don’t think so. Bama’s RZ offense was one weaknesses of the team and AU actually had a good RZ defense. Plus the whole reason Bama even had to attempt so many FGs in that game was because they kept stalling when they got in or near the RZ

It’s amazing to go back and see how talented Howard actually was. The fact that his numbers were so dreadful for 3 seasons and instances like Auburn happened just shows how bad that staff actually was.
