1997 Iron Bowl. Bama had the lead 17-15 late in the game and just needed to run the clock out to pull the upset. Instead of just running the ball, noted footballing genius Mike DuBose decides a screen pass is called for. Ed Scissum fumbles the ball, Auburn recovers and kicks the game winning field goal.
It wasn't your fault, Ed. It wasn't your fault. You should never have been in that situation to begin with.

Several years ago some team (think was the Colts playing the Pats) lined up to punt. They shifted to a swinging gate formation and the punter went under center with 2-3 defenders just breathing down his neck at the LOS. Snapped the ball and tried to run a frickin’ QB sneak 3-4 solid yards from the marker and got stuffed.

Bama had a chance to win the game on that kick and 57 yards is very long, but not insanely long for today's kickers.
It is when you consider Cade Foster already missed from 44 and 33 earlier that game and that kick was at least 4 yards longer than the longest kick he had ever made.

Foster did not attempt the kick at the end. Adam Griffith did. He was known to have a huge leg coming out of high school and Saban sent him out there because he had seen him make FGs from that distance in practice. I have to assume Saban wasn't worried about a possible return because he figured if Griffith didn't make the kick he'd at least get it out the back of the end zone. Of course that's not exactly what happened.

Dropping the ball before you cross the goal line. That’s the only acceptable answer.
And then it rolls into the end zone and out of bounds.

I remember pulling for Bama hard. A Bama win would have put LSU in the SEC CG. I wanna say Bama tried a long FG at the end to win, but me being the kid I was hoping so hard for it to go in, I remember my dad laughing saying there was no way he was gonna make it because it was too long and he obviously missed it.
Growing up I hated Auburn way more than Bama and that's what started it.

And to make it even uglier I think the whole offensive line was off the LOS in an illegal formation.

Reggie Bush in the Rose Bowl vs. Texas. His "lateral" in the middle of the field to no one was bad. They were rolling in that game and that play totally changed the game and cost them a NC and made Vince Young a Texas legend.

LSU goes to the SECCG if Alabama wins that game

Pete Carroll using is final timeout during the 2pt conversion with .19 seconds left against UT in the Rose Bowl!
Even dumber: Taking Reggie Bush off the field so the sips could key on LenDale White.
