What would you do if you came into $50K.
Keep it liquid for the upcoming possible recession to buy in low?
Dollar cost average $500 per week?
Metals or Crypto?
* 30 year retirement horizon

Snap. Gap fill back up to 16. Give it a few weeks. You're welcome.

Hookers and blow. Full Hunter Biden.
Seriously, I’d either pay off any debt above 3% interest rate, fund my Roth for the year, and then either index fund the rest or put in Ibond.

What is your time horizon for needing the cash? Retirement? Next year?

This is a hypothetical situation.
I would be more interested hearing about in long term strategies tho as i am still 30 years from retirement so my style is pretty aggressive but with a longterm outlook. But just curious what the board thinks about what they could do now to set themselves up for the future with what may happen soon in America.

Dividend stocks.
Sometimes the dividend is a large portion of return.
If you have a market returning 6% per year, a 3% dividend would get you halfway there.
IF you can find companies with growing dividends, your yield on your basis could be really nice.

My thinking most of time:
What is my objective for that money?
How does it fit into overall financial plan?
What is my time horizon and risk tolerance?
What are tax efficiency considerations?
...did not want to hit you with "depends" answer. Depends on these to me.

Sounds like you just want to know what to buy for your bug out bag?

What about I bonds
With $50K would $10K now and $10K in January be a decent idea or better to hopd cash instead of tying up the money for a year?

Crypto is at a discount as long as BTC is below $25k. Tech is going to move up first out of a recession and growth does better in a recession than value. I would put it in crypto and tech. I am not the best person to ask where to put money, though.

This is an alternative answer, and definitely a lot of work...
As screwed up as supply chains are right now there is a lot of ROI in retail arbitrage. Buying pallets of merchandise online and selling items individually on sites like ebay and amazon has never been more lucrative. It is just a shitload of work.

I would either DCA at $2k/wk or use it as a down payment on a rental property.

This board has changed a lot in the past year.
A year ago most would tell you to put it into USDC getting a “risk free” 9% with Voyager or Celsius.
