But I bet in 10 or so years he’ll feel like he needs to go into the College Football HOF as a coach.

Having ground rules that stipulate that 4-8 members per year must be elected is a big part of this problem. There should be no set quota. If only a couple of guys are worthy in a certain year, so be it. Having so many guys getting in every year essentially guarantees it will end up watered down.

Yuuuup. The minimum doesn’t work well but I guess a presentation with 1-2 guys isn’t super viable either. It’s never going to be perfect though so whatever.

This part is why I can't take the Pro Football HOF seriously.

He's kinda got a point when they're putting refs in now. If they want to do a side wing for "contributors" then I'd do that for refs/media - to me the Hall should be players and coaches.

who here does not deserve it?

At least post the link. Once you get past the clear first ballots of the latest generation, more "meh" entries really start to appear.

Don’t they do that already?

But 10 years is frankly enough on the ballot...it ensures it's the people WHO ACTUALLY WATCHED YOU PLAY voting and not some NFL Films voter who is entranced by John Facenda.

This is dumb. So Don Coryell shouldn’t go in because he coached before any of you were born even though he changed the way the sport is played ?

Tony Boselli is a perfect example. He didn't even play 100 games.

May have been really, really good for those 91 games, but that is simply not enough of a body of work for the HOF.

If he was that amazing, he’d be in before young folks ever had a chance to care.

Not sure what you're saying here.

But yeah he was judged by his peers and didn't get in...and shouldn't be judged by people who weren't even born while he coached.

NFL Films is no way to vote in players and coaches. They should only be judged by peers. That's why 10 years is enough. Second generation shouldn't be voting in players and coaches they never saw play or coach.

Body of work is ovverated. That's what got Curtis Martin in the Hall.

Deion is saying it should be about transcendence.

That's why Gayle Sayers is in the Hall with such a short career..Boselli...

Its not about racking up yards or catches over a long career. Were you the best at your position while you played?

NFL Hall shouldn't be just a career achievement award.

Curtis Martin is 6th in rushing yards and 10th in rushing ypg in front of guys like OJ, Campbell, Emmitt, Dorsett, Faulk, Sayers, and LT. He was better than just a stat compiler.

Zach Thomas should have been in years ago. Best ILBer of the 90s (yes, better than the Pilejumper).
