Do you want texmex, authentic mexican, Fancy fusion taco joint... or hell even the salvadorian place on nicholson is a different type...

Or just a fun place to drink with music and good queso...?

If you are looking for something more authentic try Blue Corn Perkins at Essen or El Tío Taquería on Burbank.

If I want cheap/easy Texmex and got sloshed on margaritas, it's probably at La Caretta on Government. For elevated Texmex bordering on authentic depending on the dish, it's Blue Corn (this is where I usually land; I'm quite fond of their mole enchiladas). If I want actual authentic Mexican, I'm dragging out to La Morenita.

Just depends on what you're looking for.

Superior Grill

Other than the frozen margaritas, Superior basically serves dog food.

Velvet Cactus

La Carretta, like many restaurants, has regressed significantly over the years. portion sizes get smaller, prices dont of course.

I remember when a Large frozen margarita was considered a "fish bowl". Now the large is like a 10-12 oz glass.
Last visit they did not even serve our table with margarita glasses, was basically their water glass.

Papis in Dehnham/watson has good margs.

Blue corn, Los Reyes, Mestizo for a slightly different twist.

El Tio for a dumpy street taco place but the food is solid.

Victoria’s on Hwy 16 in Denham is a bit of a hidden gem. They have a Texmex and more authentic menu
