Because occasional dookie pile in living room, flem coughed up in the kitchen, or pool of pee in the foyer beats a human's lying, cheating and stealing.

The people I have heard say things like this are the most socially awkward people I have ever met. They are not married and do not have kids frankly because they are so terrible at human relationships. So they try to duplicate this missing human love with having a pet and calling their pet their family when the truth is the pet would like anybody who feeds it.

No offense, but you're out numbered here. You are in the minority of a bunch of scalawag dudes that come here initially b/c they're sports fanatics. I simply think people that cannot care for animals like some do are not as emotionally evolved. I don't mean that as an insult because I don't think it really matters otherwise. I think some people will never really just understand the depth of an animal that loves you.

If you've never had a dog that sincerely loves you and appreciated it, it's your loss. Not mine. I don't care if you believe I'm socially awkward (happily married btw, and most people I do know feel how I do).

Family, friends > pets. No doubt. But there is something 100% pure about a relationship with an animal. That's the part that's worth understanding.

I know I’d let you and Dontthreadonme drown while I was saving my dog. You two suck. Bigly.

Pets love unconditionally, typically love everyone, and tend to be lower maintenance.

This is the answer.

Some people are simply exhausted by the effort of maintaining a successful human relationship. People are more complex than animals and are more vulnerable to feel wounded by words and actions. Animals are comparatively stupid and forgiving/forgetful.

I’m turned off by pet owners that seem to value the command and control relationship they can have with some pets. These people (on the average) seem not be as good with people.

But there are other pet owners who seem to simply be looking for easy companionship as an alternative or a supplement to their human relationships. These are good people.

But caring more about animals than humans is a perverted sickness. I’m related to one of these people, and my wife is friends with another. Both of these people are bitches who need dogs and cats as companions because no decent human being can tolerate their bullshite.

You can watch on YouTube a video of a cat eating her kittens like nachos

What kind of sick stuff are you watching on youtube?

Nature is not always cute or sweet. I saw one video where a Komodo Dragon captured a baby pig (feral) by it's face and it squealed until it finally was swallowed.

None of the pain, grief, and misery I have been through in my life was caused by animals.

We got a 70 lb GoldenDoodle and I never wanted a dog but damn if I don’t love that dog. He’s really smart , when I come home from work he acts like he hasn’t seen me in a year. Loves the grandkids. I thought he was a puss but we had a huge stray come in our yard and my boy went at him. I think if it come down to it he would lay it on the line

A lot of people confuse the loyalty of a pet with the love of a person.

Your pet doesn't love you. They've just been trained to be loyal for food.

You either don't have a dog or you're doing an absolute shite job as a dog owner.

People are stupid. Pets are animals.

Don’t say they’re family then when they die just bury them in the back yard and buy another one.

Pets are animals.

What an absolutely idiotic line of thought....

When you had a family member die....did your entire family stop having kids?

Care about my pets more than strangers? Of course.

Strangers are assholes. Only my dog that’s part chihuahua is an a-hole. But he’s MY a-hole.

Dogs don't love, at least in the human sense. They are conditioned to accept you as part of the pack.
