Guy doing a service call at my house the other day referred to his Pit Bull.
Right up till that point my opinion of him had been pretty high.

% is what you should be looking at. not just numbers of pit bulls attacks. That shouldn't be that hard to understand. There are 100x more pit bulls being bred/given away than people buying $1000 purebred golden retrievers.

Pits aren't even in the top 25 most popular dog breeds in America. Weird they are responsible for such a high % of attacks isn't it?

First off, I’m not a pit owner. Secondly, this is about my friends pit, who is a sweet dog, and won’t hurt anybody unless it is someone threatening him and his family. I’ve gone over to his house to dogsit this dog, all by myself, and it’s never been close to attacking me. It’s ran towards strangers before wagging its tail, and asking to be pet. It’s all how the dog is raised. You guys are just ignorant.

It amazes me the people with children that have pit bulls. Would you give your child a toy that was responsible for 65% of all toy related injuries/deaths of children? Then why let them live with an animal that is responsible for that?

I'm not denying the situation that exists with pit bulls and the steel jaw. However, do you really believe you could fight off another large breed like a Husky, German Shepard, or Doberman if it was intent on attacking you unprovoked? I doubt I could.

I’ve likewise heard something similar many times, and in many cases, they were other dogs, not pit bulls. Why don’t y’all cry for German Shepards, Rottweilers, Dobermans, all of these other vicious dogs to be banned?

I think the point that is going over your head is this doesn't really matter at all
The same could have been said about the dog in the article in the OP and then it went rogue as they often do

I'm pretty sure anyone could fight off my 120lb lab by asking if he wanted a treat or saying "where's the ball?" And by fight off, I mean keep him from slobbering on them wanting to be petted.

We have a part pit. I've said this before about her.
You really have to know what you're doing with her. She's really "wound up" most of the time, however she is very loving and actually scared of even our cats. We have been diligent in making sure she doesn't go beserk, but it's a full time job.
I can see loser owners that will get full bred pits and their being bad owners and it becomes a bad recipe.
