well this is stupid. This is popularity based on the number of dogs that are registered with AKC. I'm sure all of those responsible pit bull owners stay on top of their registrations.

Pitbulls are only 13% of the dog population but accounts for 50% of dog attacks.

well, now we're comparing an aggressive breed vs non-aggressive, so probably not. There are definitely more pitbulls than GSD or rottweilers & they are ranked #4 & #8.

I have a friend who owns a pit bull, and that may be the sweetest dog in general, that I know. It’s all about how you raise them. Have to make them respect the owner, and they’ll listen to the owner.

You're getting caught up in semantics instead of the actual point that I'm making.
There are a lot more pitbulls that are owned instead of other more expensive, less aggressive breeds. Hence, the increased number of deadly attacks.
Give me a number of pitbulls owned in the US vs GSD & rottweilers & that 284 number will look much smaller as a percentage.

Of ALL the available breeds, why pick the one that is designed, purposefully mind you, to have the most potential for deadly destruction?
The answer lies somewhere in the psyche of the type of person that is drawn to the breed. This seems to be the same mentality of those that are drawn to outlandishly lifted or lowered vehicles, super loud sound systems, truck nuts, spinner rims, gold teeth, etc.
Basically a cry for attention and an attempt to compensate for feelings of inadequacy or low self esteem.
