The victim’s husband told police when he returned home from work Wednesday, he found the pit bull dragging his wife through the backyard. Responding officers described the victim as having been mutilated.

Police say the 7-year-old dog turned on them before an officer shot and killed it.

The dog was reportedly the couple’s son’s pet dog, but he died just a couple weeks ago in a motorcycle crash.

Police say they have no reports of any previous incidents regarding the dog.

And here’s why pit bull defenders need to shut the frick up.

Don't you know it could have been any large dog, Lab, Golden Retriever, English Sheepdog, or Greyhound. Pitbulls are just lovable babies.

I have a friend who owns a pit bull, and that may be the sweetest dog in general, that I know. It’s all about how you raise them. Have to make them respect the owner, and they’ll listen to the owner.

Even the nicest ones have the propensity to attack innocent children or other pets (or adults).

And when they attack, they have lockjaw and cannot be stopped without some serious force or a gun. Even the nice ones have it in their genetics FAR moreso than any other common American dog.

I had a friend with a very sweet one that never growled or anything even when strangers were over. It jumped his fence and mauled his neighbor's dog to death.

She wasn't the owner & was obviously was not equipped to handle the dog on her own.

It's a sad story indeed. That husband lost his child and wife in a matter of weeks in separate incidents.

I’m not sure what is worse, the dog or the low-functioning owners.

Hopefully his neighbor killed it then.
