When will social security increase due to inflation?

Seems like retired people would be better off on welfare since it has seen inflation increases
Sad that people who actually contributed are punished while the free loaders are rewarded

This is an actual Dimocrat strategy. Use your money to pay for votes.

They are the ones that created and cultivated the freeloaders. Hence, we have our current dilemma.

They get a cost of living adjustment every year.

Good question. Bad assumption as those of us who had our earnings commandeered for “the common good” over a lifetime, honored our part of the Contract. Even so, the Fascists/Marxists are going to crash the whole economy and God only knows what replaces it. ‘Wailing and gnashing of teeth” most likely.

I found out a few years ago that the amount of money that can be taxed for social security tax each year is limited. It positively impacts me each year, but it’s so dumb of the IRS to limit their revenue. Just another sign of how idiotic our federal government is.

Social Security did increase by 5.9% in January of 2022 due to inflation. In a normal economy, that would be fine, in Biden’s economy, it ain’t.

It will be a while, the whole point of the currency devaluation going on is to raise wages, reduce benefits, effectively reduce national debt, and raise taxes without actually voting to do so or announcing it publicly.
Whom is being punished right now are savers and retirees and they will bear the brunt of this by having their nest egg substantially reduced.
This inflation is being induced and is not an accident.

Such a stupid system. Let’s make old people’s retirement income based on younger people working and then give young people reasons not to work. Oh and we will fund the reasons not to work out of the pockets of people that haven’t yet realized there is no reason to work.

Freeloaders vote Democrat. Workers don't.

LOL Maybe a quarter of that rate with some underwhelming cost of living increase.

Is the way this nation rolls. We got a 5.9% increase a few months ago (SS). However, our Medicare premium went up.
Like most we lose buying power each day and worse is the little we have in investments has been brutalized.
I try not to think much about it other than being a bit more mindful

Social Security (i.e. Social Security Trust Fund) is Smoke and Mirrors, Bait and Switch.
In the mid-eighties, Joe Biden and his pals in Congress pulled the ole Bait and Switch on the taxpayers. They stole Social Security. I was there. I watched, in disbelief, on television as they pulled off the heist. The move incensed Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY) so much he glared at his colleagues (including Joe Biden) and said, "It's official we're stealing from the American People". They've been stealing ever since.
The net effect of this theft? Our Social Security receipts are being used to fund the war in Ukraine, to provide benefits for illegal aliens, and who knows what else.
We sure are a gullible bunch.
Here Joe Biden this is for you........

They won’t raise it. They want the old conservatives to starve and die off and blame Putin for killing gramps and meemaw.

based on my aunt as well as a neighbor who are on it, they get a once a year adjustment on jan 1st
in most years it was around $20 increase or less, with an accompanying adjustment to the mandatory medicare premiums charging an extra $30 a year for inflation, so in almost every year they get $10 a month less after that offset
both must find a way to live off of around $1200 a month total monthly income, while teenagers flipping burgers bitch that $15 an hour isnt enough for them to work, its pathetic
