Miami Hurricanes QB commit Jaden Rashada signs $9.5 million NIL deal

quote:

Jaden Rashada committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday, beating out other competitors like Florida, for the four-star quarterback recruit’s services. How did the Miami Hurricanes get Rashada to commit to their school?

Possibly by helping the young QB nail down what could be the most-expensive name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal for a high-school recruit to date.

quote:

Sources also passed along that Rashada turned down an even more lucrative offer, totaling $11 million from Florida’s ‘Gator Collective’.

And as NIL lawyer Michael W. Caspino tells it, Rashada chose Miami because of the opportunity, not because of money.

“He did not pick the highest offer. He went there because he loves Miami, the coaches, and the opportunity,” says Caspino.

Money don't buy you love

We've all been saying NIL is getting out of hand. This is another level of ridiculousness. I hope to enjoy the season this year. My confidence is low for what is about to come afterward.

LSU boosters sure as hell ain’t shelling out 10 million for a single player

If that’s the new norm, LSU is fricked

That’s why the shite should have had a cap from jump street and should not be able to sign anything before National signing day or use it for recruiting but the NCAA is a joke. You can’t have fair competition with unrestricted money. Will never be the same again

Don't believe everything you read on the internet?

I'd wait for more confirmation before I believe the 29th best HS player signed a ~10M deal. Also doesn't mean much if we don't know the terms of the deal. Based on the amount, it sounds like a multi-yr deal & not sure how they can "legally" structure that to prevent him from transferring to another school in a year or two. I don't care if John Ruiz wants to throw away 10M to a high school kid, but we will see how it plays out for him.

Who is going to enforce this arbitrary cap?

quote:

should not be able to sign anything before National signing day

That would do nothing.

quote:

or use it for recruiting

That’s a rule now

the NCAA is a joke

The NCAA was neutered with this push for player compensation. Blaming the NCAA at this point is humorously off base.

You want what you had.

Yeah, the NCAA needs to come up with an NIL cap. I don't believe that would violate the SCOTUS ruling either. College athletes would be able to make all the NIL money they want but only subject to NIL caps if they want to play an NCAA sanctioned sport. Outside to the NCAA sports NIL caps would not apply.

And if you want to be recruited for an NCAA sport you would have to sign an NIL/NCAA agreement that you are subject to NIL caps during the recruiting process and into your NCAA playing years.

I don't think this will end up being as bad as people are expecting. You give an 18-19 year old that kind of money it will change them.

Texas A&M for example. 8 5 stars. That's a lot of egos to have to manage. I'd rather the player who has something to prove than the player who is getting paid millions to play college ball. In a few years I think these schools will start giving NIL deals worth a lot less.

Is this how we’re going to get kids to stay for 4-5 years? Pay them more than the nfl does?

This is not the same college football I grew up loving. Im not interested in contributing to ticket sales or tv ratings if this is how its going to be.

You’re just begging for another class action lawsuit with your plan.

Not changing, it’s killing it. Traditional college football will be a memory in the bigger conferences. This is mercenaries run amok across the country. Minor leagues for NFL. Real college football with actual students will be in Ivy League and other small school conferences. It is, what it is, so no arguments.

You don’t think our collective or collectives are capable of generating that kind of money if it was someone we really wanted? How much do you think Harold Perkins got? That guy pretty much said in an interview that he was gonna take the most money he was offered . It was obvious that we had to outbid other schools for him, including a and m.

Florida isn’t gonna be kicking our arse in anything when it comes to money.
People need to chill if they don’t know for sure what’s going on.

Brian Kelly isn’t gonna come out and say shite like Ryan day did . Ryan day says it’s gonna take 13 million to keep his roster in tact. Maybe he means to keep the promises he’s already made. If that’s true then that means Florida was blowing most of there money on that one player and he turned them down.

The Kelly interview I heard the other day was talking about how much nil has changed how they do things. It seemed to me like he was saying that he didn’t like it but it’s the only way to compete

I used to watch NFL and college football. I decided many years ago to focus on college because I didn't want to all weekend watching football. Now I'm seriously considering the switch to the NFL.

If I'm going to watch professionals, I may as well watch the best.

It's ridiculous absolutely but LSU isn't going to curl up and die ffs. They're cleaning up in other sports why would they ignore football which is what keeps the athletic department's head above water? You think they will decide to cuck it up and not be competitive to sink the athletic department?
