Yeah I think that different types of players/programs will ultimately rely solely on NIL, and NIL isn't going to pay nearly as much as these press reports indicate.
The big money is the NFL and, say if you're a CB or WR, you need a school like OSU or LSU to put you in the best position to make that money. That will ring true as long as those schools work at developing talent.

You can't cap NIL. You could cap salaries that schools can offer, but schools technically aren't offering deals. It's the boosters.
Leagues and the NCAA needs to look at this like how the pro leagues do. Pro Teams and players sure as shite can't circumvent the cap by having rich fans throw players NIL/endorsement money to sign with organizations. How are the pros enforcing that? Enforce it the same way here.

I don't blame them. Any rules they set up, could have been the genesis for more lawsuits. They should let it go to hell, like it's doing.
I think fans need to quit watching it, the way many have with the NFL. Let the current version of college football go to hell, and be reborn, with real students playing for their schools. Let these guys go play in the USFL, until the college draft.
I already thought that way before NIL because I knew what guys were getting under the table, pre-NIL. We've been watching semi-pro football for years. The Power 5's were funneling money to players already. The only teams the NCAA messed with were the ones that were exposed by lawsuits. LSU, USC, Miami, Michigan hoops, they all got caught because court testimony showed boosters paid money to players.

I just wish they could have went ahead and paid the players years ago so we could avoid this nonsense.
Every student athlete get 50k a year plus full scholarship. 18 year old kids don’t need more than that and it’s more than fair.

One thing that I was thinking about today is at what point do the coaches lose control. Will this not turn into the people coughing up the money demanding if they are going to be putting up the money they want say in who the school brings in? I am sure this was already happening before but so much of the coaches side of recruiting seems like it is going to be watered down and not as significant.
This will also lead to bad decisions on players who are coming in and the coaches are going to be forced into excepting it.

I will tell you what sucks. Without NIL you could be the best football player in the world and unable to significantly profit from that talent until you’re a full three years out of high school.
As many true freshmen as there are stepping in and playing key roles for great college teams, some of those guys are ready to at least contribute in the NFL at an early age - but can’t.
So frick everyone who thinks the 20 y/o football phenoms shouldn’t get paid like every other great athlete in every other sport can.
The NFL isn’t college’s problem? Well, guess what? The athlete’s ability to strike a deal with a company that wants to hitch to his imminent stardom isn’t your business either. And your program’s inability to win without him isn’t his problem either.
There’s too much money in college football, too much pressure to win, and the great players have too much talent (6’4’’ 220 lb. with a 4.4 doesn’t grow on trees) for this not to have been inevitable.

But I heard on the MSB that the NFL’s superior physicality would wreck anyone without a grown man body
