5:30 am is an odd time to commit suicide though

On a Sunday, with Chik-fil-a being closed, I get it.

Sucks. Going there any time June-early September is miserable hot and crowded"

There is no surf down there or most of the Gulf coast anyway. It IS hot and miserable and crowded at OB,TOO. Southern Cali beaches are just outstanding. awesome surf, not suffering in heat on the beach .

On balance I was impressed with So Cali, however, the beaches suck compared to the Florida panhandle. And the water is too cold to get in.

The thought of stopping at Bucc-ee’s would have me suicidal.

The early beaver gets the nugget. Or in this case, the pavement.

I’ll give you this. The beaches were beautiful and the weather was absolutely perfect. However, I went to 5 beaches in La Jolla and San Diego last week and all had post-hurricane-trying-to-get-genny-gas lines to access said beaches. My first couple of days I couldn’t figure out why there was so little interstate traffic, then I realized all the traffic was at the beach.

There’s also a very odd dichotomy there. I saw three absolutely beautiful women in thong bikinis climb out of their GWagon and set up shop next to a homeless looking dude in a coat talking 7 kinds of shite to himself while staring at the bathrooms.

Used to love Orange Beach back when it was just the good old Flora-Bama and a few smaller condos around and Ono Island in the background. Used to hit up the Flora Bama until 230 am then shift over to the Keg on that back highway by the Inter- Coastal for late night snack/ breakfast.

Now its all families and too many vacation types. Even the Flora-Bama ain't the Flora-Bama anymore

On my first visit to The Keg, the Sun was coming up as I was leaving. It isn’t that way anymore.

Met a girl there one night morning and we went on a "nature walk" at 330 in the morning. Came back around 7 am with nature all on me. Did it again the next two nights and used to go back and forth from Baton Rouge for the next 3 months ..... very natural. Experienced nature at many different hours of the day / night.
