No evidence is given in the article to support the author's claim that sundown towns still exist

And LOL at the champion of intersectionality that wrote the article. To her I say, try being a white person in any urban area in America. And you don't even have to wait 'til sundown to get murdered

quote:

“Don’t let the sun go down on you in this town.” If you were a Black traveler during the Jim Crow era and saw these words painted on a roadside sign, you would instantly want to turn back around and head in the opposite direction. Signs like this were fairly commonplace in America during the late 1800s and 1900s. They were an ominous decree to Black travelers that they were about to enter a sundown town.

A sundown town is a mostly all-white community that for decades kept non-whites from living in their town. Many towns drove out their Black populations or passed laws barring African Americans after dark or prohibiting them from owning or renting property. They’d typically do this by means of discriminatory laws, harassment and intimidation, and sometimes violence. Some sundown towns also kept out Jews, Chinese, Mexicans, Native Americans, and other minority groups, but their main objective was to keep out African Americans.

After the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, the number of sundown towns in America was significantly reduced, but not eradicated. While there may not be signs telling Black visitors to beware anymore, there are still towns in America that aren’t safe for Black people. Present-day sundown towns have mostly affected Black truck drivers and Black drivers in general. If you’re Black and frequently travel across the U.S., you should check out this sundown town database, which identifies possible sundown towns in every state.

Another way to get more information on alleged sundown towns and unsafe areas for Black people is through social media. Many users have posted first-hand accounts and educational videos on their platforms to warn other Black travelers against the potential dangers. A quick #sundowntown search on TikTok, yields a massive amount of results—here are just a few of them.

So what does one call Chicago's south side?

Gary Indiana is another.

Let’s ignore the cities like New Orleans and Baton Rouge where blacks people are actually being killed and focus on this fantasy of white supremacy.

Sundown towns are a thing of the past. An ancient relic that no longer exists, however one should always use caution at night. Especially when you're not familiar with the area.

this is such utter bullshite. no black people are being terrorized in vidor, tx or anywhere else in 2022(except for in black ghettos). the whole country has become afraid of our own shadows, we deserve all of this.

our forefathers would be forming militias and preparing to march on washington at this point.

Black people are in far, far, far, far more danger when they're walking through a black neighborhood than a white neighborhood.

Whites have a far greater chance of violent harm from blacks by percentage than the other way around and it’s not close.

Omg have y'all check the map? It claims Vestavia Hills (next to hoover, just below downtown Bham) is one. Or more specivically, when you click on the dot it says, "Confirmed: Possible"

It’s so pathetic that the liberal media has been lying to blacks about basically everything forever now.
If they believe the media, they are incapable of doing anything on their own, and they are being constantly hunted by whites and cops.

Black people are more likely to be killed by another black person than a white person.

A black person has little to fear in 99 percent of small town America ... unless he or she wants a problem.

That cannot be said of a white person in the dicey parts of most American cities. Now, it isn't a huge risk, either, but the later the hour and the dicier the neighborhood, the risk becomes palpable.
