I havent played yet. But my understanding is its kind of like if Ping Pong, Badminton, and tennis had a baby.
Unless it has changed in recent years, it's more like tennis, ping pong and whiffle-ball had a baby.

Because it's more active than ping pong, but not as physically demanding as tennis. A happy medium for a lot of people.

Because old farts and middle aged people can play it. Doesn’t require athleticism

If its getting popular in your world then you are getting old.
We had dinner last night with some old couples from our church that used to play a lot of tennis. Whether or not they were going to pick up pickleball was a solid 15 minute conversation.

We played in high school PE too. It really is a great game

What others have said, aging population of tennis players.
I have never played, but mostly because it looks like everyone is 60+ years old.
My kid in middle school played it, so it's part of PE there now.

It’s like the less athletic version of tennis for the olds and out of shape folks.

Memetic desire. The reason why we want anything.

It’s easy enough for everyone to play but most of the people I know that play are old.

I noticed that too over the past few months. First time i heard about it was this year and now i see or hear someone talk about it all the time.

Yes, standing at the kitchen line hitting over the net.

Singles Pickleball is physically intense. Not as bad as singles tennis, but its no joke.

It’s fun as hell and you can play it with your young and old family/friends alike.
Love pickle ball.

So's sex.

We played pickleball every day in PE in the mid-2000s so it’s been popular for some of us for a while now thank you.

I'm trying to bring Wall Ball back. No one seems tough enough to play these days. I even tried to explain it to some of my younger cousins (7-12 years old) a few months back. It was too much for them. I don't know what I expected, they don't even play Dodgeball anymore. At least three of them play Soccer. We're failing our children.
