Male Nurse here. Call me Gaylord Focker if you must. My job is currently soul crushing. Between natural turnover, burnout, Covid fatigue, and just feeling like it’s time. 7 years here.

I have an opportunity to leave. The money has gotten very good but the job sucks. I take as much joy as a coal miner must. Perhaps I exaggerate but you get the drift.

Bottom line. I bet I take a $10k/yr cut in pay but the trade is more time at home and just not being in this job anymore.

For those of you who’ve walked away for less cash but sanity, how big of a hit percentage wise did you take and were you happy in the end ?

$10k isn't much for happiness. I'd take the cut.

If you hate your job it causes more stress and after so much stress it starts to have an impact on your health. What would you have to cut out in your life if you took the less paying job?

I've learned that money means nothing if you're miserable

I changed jobs recently because I realized it was affecting my life and since I did pretty much every aspect of my life has been better

Do what you need to do to be happy

It’s scary, but happiness is the goal

Only 10k? Absolutely take the cut.

I owned a business for 7 years that did extremely well, but it was insanely stressful and I missed a lot of time with the family. I sold and currently make 40% of what I used to make. Now, I go into an office twice a week and never miss a moment with my family. I am much, much happier.

Depends on how much you make.

I made some with your mom. Tik Tok took them all down. Term used was “wildly pornographic”.

Fisting, when filmed tastefully, is high art.

I took a cut for more than that five years ago.

It was worth every penny. Five years later, I have all that and now I make more.

Do it.

Doing something you enjoy (or at least don't hate) is worth the pay cut. Been there, done that. You family will thank you as well.

Happiness.

I left a job that sucked for 20% less a year ago, it worked out perfectly.

Stress destroys any happiness that extra money might bring.

Take the pay cut, but sometimes people find that it wasn't the crappy job causing the stress to begin with.

Hopefully you've banged plenty of the female nurses. Bang as many as you can and exit the premises. For a 10K a year cut, you'd be crazy not to get out. Being miserable sucks.
