Take the cut man. Life is too short. Your cutting years off your life being in a miserable job.

I left my job last year (same industry) for a $65k a year raise. I was there six weeks and determined I had majorly fricked up. Asked for my old job back and got it so that nice raise was gone. Do not regret it one single minute. Much happier and should have stayed where I was originally.

Didn't take a pay cut, but I did turn down a much better offer from my then-current city to take a modest pay increase to move to Boise. I haven't regretted it yet. Getting to ski and mountain bike any time I want to is pretty awesome. My weekends are better than my vacations in my previous life. The difference in pay was >10%. I might regret it when I get closer to retirement, but for the time being, I'm happy with my decision.

Took a 40% pay cut (short term to be fair) and traded 200 nights a year in hotels for 100% WFH and ZERO travel.

No brainer.

The amount of bedside nurses leaving the workforce is staggering. It’s a domino affect that’s only going to get worse.

For those of you who’ve walked away for less cash but sanity, how big of a hit percentage wise did you take and were you happy in the end ?

I had been retired from my chosen career for about a year when I was talked into taking a part time consulting job. I did it for several years because the money was great, but I was never happy doing it. I eventually quit, and I still regret the time I spent doing something I didn’t like. The older you get, the more you start to value your time over money..

I made some with your mom. Tik Tok took them all down. Term used was “wildly pornographic”. Fisting, when filmed tastefully, is high art.

I hope you remain unfulfilled by your employment.

With the nursing shortages in facilities and clinics you should EASILY be able to find another job with a better work/home balance

I bet I take a $10k/yr cut in pay but the trade is more time at home a

honest question..do you work 3 days a week currently? Most nurses I know have that schedule. I'm curious how much more time at home you're expecting ot get with a job change.

$10,000 is nothing if it means your happiness and health. The only thing that would cause me to think about it was if that $10,000 meant I would lose my house or something but hopefully that isn’t the case for you.

Peace of mind is everything. Lack of it interferes with everything.

Male Nurse here. Call me Gaylord Focker if you must. My job is currently soul crushing. Between natural turnover, burnout, Covid fatigue, and just feeling like it’s time. 7 years here.

Not sure what job you have but my daughter works in surgery at a hospital. She works two days and a night (12 hr shifts) and is done for the week... With shift dif she gets her 40 in 3 days. She picks up extra shifts when she feels like some extra cash but doesnt have to.

$10k isn't much for happiness. I'd take the cut.

Yeah, $10k a year isn't that much of a change in lifestyle. Especially if you're talking about more free time and overall being happier.

I'd take that cut in a heartbeat.

I walked away from a multi million dollar a year business due to health and I don't regret it.

If I was a nurse I would travel 6 months out the year and take the other half off.

I have the means to go to school and not work now so that is what I do, but when I go back to work I will not be taking these measly signing bonuses and being a slave to a company. I know these $10-$15-now $30k bonuses are not life changing amounts of money.

Now absolutely zero work even with school gets mind numbing, I actually enjoy doing uber and it pays $40-$70 an hour on the weekends I am not fishing. I try to fish during the week but school can get in the way of that.
