Remember when Curry took Davidson to the Elite 8?

And took eventual tourney champs Kansas to the final possession. We were all Steph Curry fans back then.
I'll be honest, I didn't know we were watching the guy that would single handedly change the entire sport. Because make no mistake, the rest of the league saw what him and the Warriors were doing and adapted accordingly. During the Warriors first run, the sentiment was "jumpshooting teams can't win the title" and now the league revolves around jumpshooting.

Imagine being the guy that basically traded Mike Miller and Randy Foye for Curry
Instead, he takes Ricky Rubio with that pick and then Jonny Flynn, who played basically one season in the NBA, right after

Crazy thing is that it took him a good 5 years or so before he made his jump and that was after he had ankle problems

I agree. I thought he was going to be a really, really good player in the NBA. And yes, you're right about the hip injury. He was never the same. I think people forget how good that dude was at Syracuse and how freakishly athletic he was.

Kahn was told by Curry that he would never play for the Wolves if they drafted him, as he was trying to make it to the Knicks at #8.
The Warriors grabbed him at #7.
I don’t know if it was a bluff or not by Curry but Kahn was also an idiot. Drafting three points in the same draft (Rubio, Flynn, Lawson) then trading the best of the three to Denver was a major head scratcher.

Curry was ridiculous in college but also very unselfish.
One game a team doubled him the entire game so he just stood in the corner and let his team play 4 on 3 the whole game while scoring 0 points and attempting 3 shots
I can't imagine many star players being content to just stand there to help their team. Most guys would be forcing tons of bad shots.

Jump to about the five minute mark for footage...but the first 5 minutes gives you context. This channel actually contacted Davidson and got the tape from the coaching staff. Pretty neat.

shite, there was a HUGE contingent that thought Golden State was dumb as hell for paying him basically a max contract in 2012.
(and also thought that the Hornets trading CP3 for Klay and Steph would've been an awful awful trade for the Hornets

Funny anecdotal story about Steph going to Davidson... I used to work with a guy in the NOLA area who was recruited by Davidson, among other schools, out of high school. Davidson was the biggest school recruiting my coworker who we will call Jake, and they wanted him. Jake was on the same AAU team as Kevin Durant and Ty Lawson, but he never really played. (Side story coming up)
One day Davidson stopped calling and coming after him, so Jake called them asking what was going on... They said "we found this kid that fits exactly what we need and he has pedigree, so sorry, but we don't want you anymore." Something like that. Turns out, that kid was Steph Curry.
Side story: There was an AAU tournament coming up, but Ty Lawson had to make a trip to UNC, so my guy Jake was in line to start at PG for the AAU team. One day at practice, he made a bet with KD. If he could dunk the ball in 3 tries, KD had to call him "daddy" and carry his bags for the entire tournament the weekend coming up. Jake was probably 5'11 and 155 lbs at the time. First 2 attempts, hit the rim and busted his arse. 3rd attempt, he barely got it in over the rim, but it counted and KD honored his bet. At the next tournament they were playing against Derrick rose's team. Jake made a nice alley oop pass to KD in the game and KD said "nice pass daddy." Derrick Rose turned around in disbelief like "why is the best player in the country calling YOU daddy white boy?" Jake said, "that's just what I'm known as where I come from," or something along those lines.
I've seen pictures, they were on the same team. His name isn't Jake, and I'm sure that many details were embellished, but cool as shite regardless.

Steph didn't create any blueprint.
Loyola defeated defending Champs Michigan in the 2nd round...149-115. They attempted 40 threes in that game in an era when NOBODY was doing that.

That and KD willingly assuming the nickname "The Servant" and having his mother literally bathe him as an adult in the NBA after his injury, I just have so many questions for that guy.
