You realize cost of living in Houston is a joke compared to Austin, right?
Let’s keep it like that

Food is great here but Houston is shite place to visit. Great place to make living but shite tourist city unless you want to shop, see museum’s and eat
Beats being a fun place to visit and shite place to live like New Orleans or Nashville

Don’t worry it’s not changing anytime soon. The new google building is almost done and there seems no stopping the tech boom there.

If you told me I could have 5 years left to live in Nashville or 10 to live in Houston I’d already be casket shopping

We come a few times a year to visit family and like Louisiana it is too hot to do outdoor activities. The science museum and nasa we enjoyed. Have done all the Galveston and Kemah things. Kids are too young for bars. We are out of ideas. We can find good food and sports but the traffic sucks so bad.

Barrio in SW Houston. Bring lawn chairs and watch the drive by's and convenience store shoot outs.

I wasn't even shitting on Houston. I actually dig it for what it is in many ways.
I've just never considered it particularly "historic" on a national scale. Hell, even San Jacinto is well outside the historic limits of the city and occurred before it was deemed one.

It’s possible to not say something negative while also pointing out how retarded someone’s statement is, which is what you were doing.
“It’s laughable that anyone would consider houston a top 5 historic city” isn’t shitting on Houston, it’s just a fact stated without knocking the city itself.

Live in the Houston area.. you are pretty much correct. Fun stuff to do but nothing here is a "must".
Catch a Stros game and take in Minute Maid if you are into sports but that's about it.
Houston has a badass Museum of Natural History that features a world class dinosaur exhibit hall. If you are into that sort of thing this is a must. If you have young kids then an absolute must.
If you want to hang out with fellow LSU fans there are a bunch of Popeyes in shady parts of town.

And if hanging out with fellow A&M fans is more your speed, there are a lot of bathroom stalls in Montrose. Just tap your foot and whisper “gig ‘em”

Zero.. there are zero must visits in Houston .. I spent a long time living there, and it’s not a bad place to live, or to start a career- but with the exception of NASA an hour away, there is nothing in Houston to indicate you are there and not in Cleveland or Kansas City or any other generic city.. Say what you want about New Orleans, but at least if youre standing in most places in NOLA (and not dodging bullets)- you would know youre not in any other city….. Hell, when i was in Houston they didnt even have an In n Out Burger yet, to me that would be the only ‘must do’ in Houston now .

I know and outside of "Houston, the Eagle has landed", there's nothing historic. We dont' have an Alamo or a Dealey Plaza.

It’s funny how people are so defensive of Houston. Its not that bad. It’s not that great. Houston is Houston. Parts of it remind me a lot of Louisiana. There’s crime. There’s traffic. There’s humidity.
At the same time there’s also some nice pockets. Majority of which reside within the 610 loop. First that comes to mind is uptown/galleria area. Once you get outside of the 610 Loop, it’s mostly rough until you get past 99/GrandPkwy. Endless cookie cutter subdivisions, cookie cutter strip malls, car dealerships, chain restaurants, chain stores. It’s very carbon copy.
All that being said, Houston suburbs have some of the best schools, parks and demographics in the whole gulf south region. If you’re willing to put up with all that generic stuff for your kids sake, it’s worth it. If you don’t have family in the area or plan to start a family I don’t understand why people opt to live this lifestyle.

If anyone ever said “Boston is a top 5 city for weather” I would laugh them out of the room. Not a knock on Boston, but Jesus Christ that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Last time I checked, Houston was one of the few cities with a growth rate over 1% on this list, so y’all haters from these barely sustaining cities and suck one.

So wait, now you’re touting the Houston growth rate? Earlier you were encouraging people to go to Dallas or Austin to keep COL down? Take a position man
