Houston sounds like a dreadfully boring city.

I haven't been there enough to comment.

I like Rudy's, but can't stand behind Pappas.

They advertise a bone in rib sandwich, which makes no sense bc you literally have to pick the bones out of it before eating the sandwich

The fact that a “where to visit in Houston” thread has devolved into a “which bbq is good or bad in Houston” thread says a lot about Houston.

it's boring for sure but most migrated here for the better opps and decent paying jobs than what was available in LA, anyway.

I certainly won't sit here and defend the fun factor of Houston. There are fun things to do, but certainly nothing that I would solely attribute to the city's culture or lack thereof.

If you go to NASA there are two separate trolley tours you can take. They don’t cost any extra but you need to reserve a ticket as soon as you get there. I recommend the one that takes you to the original mission control room. Other than that nasa is basically just a musuem.

I still like visiting nasa. Seeing the Saturn 5, and the mission control room still gives me goosebumps.

I love all the responses here about Houston. Y'all must not get out much.

Cultural in the top 5 in the US.
Culinary in the top 5 in the US.
History in the top 5 in the US.

Yes, there are lots of shitty things, but everyone always highlights those. Every city has them .

Get tickets to an Astros game, hit up EaDo for drinks and also eat at Irma’s.

Any of the fusion fried rice plates are really good. But the go to is the chef special. It is not on the menu, they have it written down on a chalk board on the back wall.

Good, let them move to Dallas or Austin and drive up the COL there

You realize cost of living in Houston is a joke compared to Austin, right?

Zero.. there are zero must visits in Houston .. I spent a long time living there, and it’s not a bad place to live, or to start a career- but with the exception of NASA an hour away, there is nothing in Houston to indicate you are there and not in Cleveland or Kansas City or any other generic city

I've never understood the hate Houston gets. Sure, it's huge and there's tons of traffic. But it's a nice city. Great shopping, world class museums, plenty of great dining, beautiful neighborhoods.

To answer the OP, go get brunch at Tiny Boxwoods, visit the Cy Tombly and Menil Collection, go check out the Waterwall when you're by the Galleria, Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, Museum of Natural Science, and spend an hour or so driving through River Oaks and just gawk at the mansions that you'll never be able to afford

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

Food is great here but Houston is shite place to visit. Great place to make living but shite tourist city unless you want to shop, see museum’s and eat
