“Wood pipe”!? Why that’s be nigh o’ calling’ Billy the Kid an ordinary hornswoggler. It’d hardly do him justice!

What you see here is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Take notes, ye pigeon-livered son-of-wagtail!

Storage facility incoming. Some places aren't worth saving.

Wondered the same thing about it maybe being the company in the layoff thread.

Is so, it happened as predicted, with quickness.

In India the swaztika also was a symbol of good luck. Hitler obviously ruined that.

Hopefully they can find some Urban Cowboy to save the day, but they’ll never bring back uncle Bob.

How does an entire company have a bad attitude? I’ve seen the same

Like wanting contractors to indemnify them for their own employees mistakes or illegal activities that would cause shutdowns difficult. Some of their language is nuts.

Yep, we had to double our insurance coverage (loss of use) just to work there for this very reason.

I have a friend that works at the BR Exxon refinery and he said there is an area in that plant where they find old valves that still say Standard Oil on them so they have to be early 1900’s. That’s crazy to think a piece of equipment is still in operation under those conditions for 110 years.

The OT is a never ending hate parade on Louisiana.

While not a small refinery I don't think anyone would consider this one of the largest in the USA.

Refineries make money on the crack spread and whatever small advantages they can drum up over their peers.

3:2:1 crack spread is above $35 right now. Refineries ARE making bank. But you’re correct, just because gasoline is expensive doesn’t mean they are doing well

I've seen these at ExxonMobil Baton Rouge.

I've worked on a project in the NE that had these. This was probably a few years before camera phones were common so I didn't get picks. Wish I did, most people don't believe these are a thing.

Almost like the majority of the OT is based in Louisiana so it gets more focus

Wood is an exceptionally durable material if kept wet. It’s the continuous wet/dry cycle that leads to wood rot

The point is that while the cracks are good, it doesn’t mean that if you’re in operation you automatically net “X” profit. There’s scale advantage with being a big player and integration with chemicals and upstream that differentiate OPEX to run and impact bottom line. In environments like this, the least profitable get squeezed

Old AF. Not well maintained at all.

I did a pipeline job in there when I first moved to Houston in 1995 and that place was a dump then.
