With Joker basically a remake of Taxi Driver, and The Batman taking liberally from the plot of Se7en and stylistically from The Crow, the question has to be considered, is DC incapable of being original?
This isn’t just a DC problem. It’s a Hollywood problem.

And apparently it's a problem that's gonna show up in the sequel.
I tried to watch that You-tube scene where Batman is interviewing the Joker and I just couldn't get through it.
The Silence of the Lambs rip off was just so unapologetically bad and obvious.
It felt like some sorta troll or like we were being punked or something. Who would do this?
It's as though someone thought Silence of the Lambs is a forgotten, dust bin movie and you could just steal from it.

Its a very flawed film. I agree with Slo that the first act was great, 2nd was good, but the final act was just too much for me. Reeves tried stuffing way too much into this film. It felt like an ending when they captured Falcone, but then it starts back up again with Riddler flooding the city lol. There was no need for this to be 3 hours long.
Still, there was a lot that I really enjoyed and I'm excited to see more of this world. And I liked Pattinson as Batman quite a bit.

I'm in this camp
the first hour or so I was all in
and then that last hour was a drag that I kept checking the timestamp to see how much we had left

And what was the point really of putting Colin Ferrell in all that make up and shite? Why not just hire an actor who was fat and old? That was a pointless Dick Tracy move right there.
Because he is a good actor

I will say this though. It was well acted or about as well acted as it could be. Robert Pattison, Colin Ferrell and John Turturro did a good job
oh there it is.

You knew no one would read this if you posted it in the thread that already existed? fricking narcissistic arse. Didn’t read.
Props to the attention whore for his rancid moment in the sun.

Yeah he did a good job but it doesn't change the notion that putting him in all that makeup and shite was pointless and dumb. Nobody else got the Dick Tracy treatment. Why him? It doesn't make sense. Just hire and old, fat actor. There's plenty of them out there to play the same role.
Being a "good actor" is not a good reason to do that, if that's the only character you're doing it for.

And props to you for providing it. I shall grant you an upvote.

I'm just guessing, but I think its possible there might be a reason why they did this for future movies? like flashbacks or something?
where he wasn't so fat and/or old?

It didn't suck but it was WAY too long. They could have fairly easily cut out 45 minutes and not have lost anything.
The setting was cool and I loved seeing a darker detective batman but not enough happened in the movie to warrant its runtime. Also the Riddlers master plan in the finale of inconveniencing 1 city block was pretty bad

I saw it a couple weeks ago and didn't really get all the hype either. It wasn't a bad movie, but not good either.

What a dumb reason to hate on a movie. Maybe they wanted a good actor for the role instead of just using some random actor just because he's actually fat and old.

And why insert the words white privilege? That's a rhetorical question, I know why. But really though, why? What does that bring to the table?
Aww they said white privilege, did it hurt your poor little baby feelings? I'm sorry, I don't know how you'll make it from here on out.

bruh, that's more than just "1 city block". i guess all of new orleans was "1 city block" when katrina hit, too?

It was good but a tad over hyped. It’s not in the same ballpark of TDK that people tried to putting it at or over. Also the Riddler is a boring arse character/ villain imo

Dano just did not come off as menacing enough after the diner scene

Well it wasn't the only reason. But it's a pretty good one though. It was just frickin' stupid.

They definitely made a Girl With the Dragon tattoo mistake by ending the movie too many times. In Finchers defense, he had to be true to the source material.
I get what Reeves was trying to do. Catwomans plot was relevant because it showed that her, Batman, and Riddler essentially had the same reasoning/ goals for their actions. They were just at different levels for how far they would go to accomplish those goals. Catwoman being at the middle point. It’s a traditional plot line for Batman, just maybe too much for one movie. Felt like a season of a TV show.
He really wanted to get the point across that heroes and villains can be in all factions of the world. Perceived goals, aspirations, and motivations may not be what their true goals, aspirations, and motivations are. It’s a classic plot.
