Dano was the worst part of the movie. I didn't buy him as a capable villain at all.

As soon as he entered the picture, I said to myself how is this frickin' guy right here getting all stealthy and ninja, sneaking into the mayor's home and shite like that?

Also, is the white incel all we get in Batman villains these days? We had Joaquin Phoenix in Joker (which was an awful movie) and now this guy.

Next only to the middle aged white male, frail white geekboys must be the greatest threat to American society.

I loved the movie. But to your point about borrowing. I thought they borrowed the intro and voice over from Dredd.

And that's a bad thing? I didn't mind when a sci-fi movie like Edge of Tomorrow borrowed from the comedy Groundhog Day. In the comics, Batman is a great detective and this movie finally focused on that Sherlockian skill. I like that a superhero movie was reminiscent of a great serial killer/detective thriller like Sev7n. I do have issues with the movie, but borrowing from Sev7n is not one of them.

My biggest complaint was the incessant whispering by nearly every character. And also it went a little too long and Pattinson's billionaire Bruce Wayne was written too moody/angsty/goth.

But otherwise, Pattinson's Batman might be my favorite Batman.

Sherlockian skill. Where was that shite? He and Alfred solved some puzzles and not much else. I think I saw an episode of Miami Vice once where Sonny Crockett did the same thing.

Robert Pattison walking around a murder scene in front of a bunch of cops, playing detective, dressed as a Bat just didn't work. He was as out of place as a guy in a gorilla suit.

The movie wasn't reminiscent of Sev7n and there was no paying homage to it or any shite like that. They straight up fricking stole from Sev7n and did a shitty job of doing it.

But like you though. I do think Robert Pattison did a good job.

It was more from The Watchmen, imho, and it worked well.

The first 1/3 or so of this movie was the best-directed portion of a Batman movie ever, imho. It really hit the tones perfectly.

The only real "stolen" scene was in the Riddler's apartment, but it wasn't even meant that way. It was meant as a parallel to Batman's own journals that he references in the first part and then they come back to it after the flood (in a scene summarizing all the development he had during the movie).

Just a hint: Se7en stole from other movies, too. It wasn't the first crime-noire where the villain had a crazy home area.

With Joker basically a remake of Taxi Driver, and The Batman taking liberally from the plot of Se7en and stylistically from The Crow, the question has to be considered, is DC incapable of being original?

You also sound like a snowflake , there was like a single sentence about white privilege…

And it was a pretty toxic sentence. Some people aren't ok with inserting extremely divisive social bullshite into something that's supposed to be escapism. Had it been a good movie, I could've overlooked it. But since it's a bit of a shite movie, it bears mentioning.

Yeah because the other thread is you all jerking each other off about how this movie is so great, one after another trying to reflect on how enlightened you are and comic book this comic book that justifying why this trash can was any good.

And we need a mute or block button for everyone of you that said this is better than the dark knight, absolutely awful take

I didn’t care for it. It was boring. Didn’t like any of the characters. The Catwoman was especially awful

The only thing I took from Catwoman is how fitting it is that she eats pussy.

Practically speaking, the movie is just way too long and we'll put it nicely and just say it borrowed from other movies like Sev7n, Sev7n, The Crow, That other David Fincher movie, Sev7n and The Blues Brothers.

I tried to warn ya'll repeatedly well before this movie was out

Who didn’t see that coming? Hmmm

It’s basically going to be a ripoff of 7even with a “copy/replace/paste” of Batman character names

And also Seven copy paste replace

It's the new trend in DC movies

Steal/Borrow from other great scripts and slap superhero names to them

Dude. The Batman mythos has always been under the microscope of privilege. The hero is a fricking billionaire who hunts LES people.

There really wasn't alot of originality in this at all, except for maybe the Batman character. It's ok for there to be hints, subtleties and some reminiscence from other movies but this shite went over the top.

TDK has always been overrated.

Signed, a guy who took a lot of shite for posting that opening night on here at like 3am after watching the midnight premier.

Some people are still primed by the pre-launch hype and opening scene and haven't admitted how that movie also falls apart in the final 1/3 and is way too long. I mean if the meme for the new one is that it's a copycat/derivative, then that applies to TDK, too. The Batman and TDK suffer in very similar ways.

You know what is the most original Batman movie of this modern era? TDKR, and that movie sucked. Originality isn't always better.

It's very close to call b/w this new one and TDK and it will take some reviews and simmering, but TDK is a severely flawed and overrated movie that some people just have an irrational love of, which is cool, but don't act like you have this superior taste when people with actual taste in movies are laughing at you.

At least reference the correct Scorsese movie.

*ETA: and the homage wasn't hidden. DeNiro played the fricking Jerry Langford role in Joker

Oh it's a terrible, terrible take. There was nothing at all captivating about this movie. The Dark Knight was and is amazing.

This movie should've gone straight to Netflix.

Without Ledger, TDK is kind of generic and stylistically the change was extreme. I can watch Begins on repeat. TDK hasn’t aged nearly as well and I don’t love it as much as I thought I did.

As for the white villain whining of Pandy frickler… the literal opening of the movie was a Hispanic gang set on brutalizing an Asian dude. Sure was going out of its way there.
