This is why millennials are unhappy

So min wage has gone up 3.45x since 1970.
Let's apply that 3.45x to some of these amounts from 1970, and see how we are doing.
New House - $80,902 (Where can you find anything other than a trailer, at that price?)
New Car - $11,213 (you might be able to find a several years old used car. Maybe)
Movie Ticket - $5.35 (popcorn costs more than that)
Gasoline - $1.24 (we had close to that not too long ago)
Postage stamp - 21 cents (LOL government)
Sugar - $1.35 (even walmart brand is $2.12)
Milk - $2.13 (can't even find a half gallon for this)
Coffee - no comment, don't drink it
Eggs - $2.03 (only costs $1.94 at Walmart - we have a winner)
Bread - 86 cents (well, Walmart bread is just over a dollar)
So for all you boomers just saying "work harder"... this is the ultimate "OK Boomer" moment...
For those of you hung up on min wage...
Use average income.
Today it's $51,480 so a factor of 5.47
That gets you a house of $128,272
That gets you a new car for $18,781.

And people who make minimum wage are always going to be poor. We've never had a system where minimum wage workers were "happy." Wasn't the case back then or now.

If you are a fully grown adult making minimum wage, you are doing it wrong.

I'll just leave this here.

If you're a millennial, you're somewhere between 26-27 and 40-41.
If you're making minimum wage in that group you've done that to yourself.
With that said, I agree with your approach, I just don't think minimum wage is a good metric.

What special exemptions do you deem worthy of this not applying to, hypocrite?

There should not be a minimum wage. Let the market work it out.

A lot of us had grandfathers that worked for barely above min wage in the 70s and yet still owed a house, etc.
But use average income - and compare that to home prices.

Easy credit, free items for non preformers( hospital- housing- food & cash supplements) as well as lawyers & lawsuits and keep in mind minimum wage was never intended to live on .

If you’re so short on cash stop buying iPhones and paying every month for subscription services

You’d do better merely adjusting for inflation and laughing at the 50 year old that still think 50k is a good living
Minimum wage is a losing battle

1. There shouldn't be a minimum wage. It's arbitrary. Let the free market rule.
2. In the 60s when I started working we knew that MW was not for a career. It was training on the job. We learned skills and developed a resume for better jobs.
3. As teenagers in HS we always looked for MW jobs that involved more pleasant working conditions. My brother got a job scrubbing the inside of oil tanks. I got a job in radio. I won.

They are unhappy because they have left the church - they have no community and are alone.

Which word don’t you understand?
As a matter of fact, you should be against minimum wage altogether* because that’s just the government interfering in private business. So what is the point of this thread, exactly?
*people born without legs are still free to get minimum wage though, obviously

And Do they blame all this on conservatives? Is this why they tend to vote Marxist?

This is a classic example of a liberal complaining about the outcomes of liberal policies.

Yeah, it's total bullshite. I'm 32, an Army Veteran, conservative, with a job that pays my bills so I can say that and not be shouted down by the boomer mob who thinks anyone that bitches about quality of life and cost of living nowadays is a skinny jean wearing, soy latte sipping liberal.
Took the wife to the theater to see The Batman in IMAX the other day and it was a $40 ordeal.
