I didn’t even make minimum wage when I had jobs in college.

I was taught that if I wanted to get ahead I need to put forth an effort and not rest on my laurels like a bitch.

same here

apparently a lot of people from the millennials, and the one after that which the studies suggested would be just as bad as millenials, have been educated to do this through failures of the education system.

It becomes so easy at that point to abandon all decency and honesty and do these Cloward-Piven attacks like several here.

Not a smart thing to do considering the amount of crazy people. It is always easy to talk trash on an anonymous message board but in real life it could get you killed.

Gas was not $0.36 a gallon in 1970. More like $0.28.

This is why millennials who don't understand economics and personal financial responsibility are unhappy. Navigate some shite, it will never be handed to you. Work smart before hard.

Quit wasting your time with social justice and lame activism on every little thing

Look we’ve spent a few years trying to make millennials happy and look at this country now. It’s a disaster.

52 years from 2022 to 1970.

Do your same analysis from 1918 to 1970, also 52 years. Lucky bonus, inflation was rocking and rolling in the 70s like today, I remember it.

You'll find the biggest difference is in the 70s was there wasn't an entire generation of twats running around whining all day long.

great comparison.

The prosperity of the 50s and 60s was fading into the inflation and "malaise of Carters" late 70s. It was gone by the time 16% mortgage rates of the early 80s arrived.

That was also the time of 'detente' that kept record military spending rolling too

Again, great comparison since no generations have EVER drawn the same hand.

National avg price for gas by year:

1970 - $0.36
1971 - $0.36
1972 - $0.36
1973 - $0.39
1974 - $0.59

Gas hadn't averaged less than 30 cents for a year since the '50's.

1974's $0.59/gal in 2021 dollars is about $2.60

In the 70's, average for vehicles on the road was 11 mpg. In 2021 average mpg was 24.

So adjusted for inflation and fuel efficiency, in today's terms drivers paid $5.67 per gallon for gas in 1974, the last time we had Democrat-induced high inflation.
