Why is McDonalds inside dining still closed?

I saw an elderly couple with Florida plates, no doubt traveling, just wanted to sit down and eat. I find it sad, and quite frankly am slightly angered, that these old people had to get back in their car and drive around a town they don’t know just to find another place to sit down and eat.

Anything that stops people from eating that garbage is fine by me.

Lazy democrats don’t want to open the inside up because it means they have to work harder

Probably dont have enough people to clean it
Eating inside a fast food restaurant sucks anyways

My grandparents bitched about this exact scenario when they drove to ft Lauderdale a few months ago

in my area, the McDonalds and Popeyes lobby's are open, but Burger King is still closed

It is more profitable for them to do drive thru only anyway.
Don’t have to clean the interior.
Don’t have to have people manning the counter taking more orders.
You get to have one person taking orders / money, one person handing out food at the window, and the rest are either cooking or bringing food out to curbside orders.
It means lines as bad as CFA and Popeye’s but it moves at a rate between the two.

I have a friend that owns a very profitable franchise of a fast food joint. He said that he was making more money during COVID than he had ever made, partially because he wasn't paying staff to work the dining area. He was actually lamenting the fact that corporate was making him open back up. Personally, I don't like to eat in my car, so if a restaurant has their dining room closed, I go somewhere else.

That's interesting because Starbucks is as left wing as McD and they not only allow indoor dining but they stopped the employee mask requirement last week.

Why do the audience at the Ellen show still wear masks? Because they are a cult!

Maybe that elderly couple just wanted to take a break from driving, grab a couple of coffees, sit at a table, and use the restroom. Plenty of people do exactly that and don’t eat any of the food.

It was so they could focus on keeping the icecream machines working

A combination of being unable to find staff / profit.
QSR’s (quick service restaurant) made a TON of profit through Covid.
Less staff / overhead expense + similar sales = more bottom line profit

Staffing or their business model has changed.

I was in Los Angeles 3 weeks ago and McDonald's inside dining was open. If any place would close its dining area, it would be California

If I want out of the car for a few minutes, to eat and the dining area is closed ..... MY GPS with one or two buttons pushed will tell me exactly where to go. No guess work and no driving in circles....

I'm into cooking and wouldn't be caught dead in a McD. But I don't care if other people like it. It's freedom of choice.
However, my wife ate at McDonalds before she met me and she still believes all the catsup you want is free. A half bottle of catsup is not needed for 3 pieces of my fried catfish.

The word "dining" doesn't belong in a sentence with McDonald's

Was inside Whataburger yesterday. I've seen Burger King and Popeyes open for indoor dining here.
