I’m not asking what’s the best MD movie, I’m asking what is your favorite?

(BTW, his best movie is “The Departed”)

MD gets a lot flack, saying he’s mildly retarded, etc, but his resume may be one of the greatest resumes of any current actor under 60 years old.

My favorite movie starring MD is “The Martian”, just edging out “Interstellar” by a hair.

“The Martian” is just a great, fun watch.

I’m guessing most will say “Saving Private Ryan” is their favorite and his best movie. I have no problem with that, it’s a great movie.

I went back and took a closer look at his resume. I may need to change my answer because he was in “Field of Dreams”, one of my favorite movies of all times (not my all time favorite).

I will stick with my answer above because he was only an extra in FoD’s. I don’t even know where he is at (I’m guessing he’s a ball player)

The antique Tiger,

I can’t agree with you on Matt Damon “starring in” either Interstellar or Saving Private Ryan. Great work but he wasn’t the star of either.

His greatest work was without a doubt the SNL Weezer skit he did 3-5 years ago. Greatest movie…Elysieum just cause I want to see how many people will read a paragraph of someone else’s opinion. & knowing this board, I can use upvotes & downvotes on any pro snl or immigrant metaphor movie message to gauge how many people actually finished reading this block of text.

I really did enjoy Elysieum, great movie. I didn’t ask what is your favorite movie starring Matt Damon, I asked what Is your favorite MD movie. The list is QUIT long.

I just looked up his filmography, and counted 89 movies he's done as an actor which is way more than I expected. I only saw 27 of those movies.

I think I enjoyed his character best in The Martian, but he was also a great back-stabber in Interstellar, which went against his usual likable/rootable type roles.

While he's been a polarizing/prickly figure at times offscreen, I'm hard-pressed to name a movie character of his I've seen that wasn't entertaining.

Wait... so you would consider Ghostbusters a Ron Jeremy movie b/c he was an extra in the crowd near the end of the film?

I've seen 17 apparently, though I don't remember him being in all of them.

Invictus is worth a mention, especially for rugby fans/former players.

This...well and Rounders.

Invictus is a favorite but he feels like a bit player.

Least favorite is easily Downsizing, man that movie sucked, all kinds of awful...what a piece of shite.

Underrated. I’ve watched it once every summer since it was released in the theaters.

Wasn't that all a joke stemming from what his dummy looked like in Team America? Do people really think he's retarded? I've never heard that I don't think.

ETA:

By the way, the best movie he was in is School Ties. But my favorite is either Rounders or Ocean's Eleven, with Rounders likely edging out the win.

Good Will Hunting

I think this is the runaway winner for him in a starting role.

Saving Private Ryan for him in a supporting role.

Eurotrip for him in a cameo appearance.
