My favorite movie that he's in is probably Oceans 11, but wouldn't call it a "Matt Damon movie"
I'd agree that my favorite movie he's the lead in is The Martian. It's very close though, there are better movies and others that I love, but that is just such an enjoyable flick.
Spinoff: Favorite Matt Damon Cameo. There are tons of great ones.

Good Will Hunting is in my top 2. That and Inglourious Basterds are 1a and 1b depending on what mood I’m in.
Rounders is a solid second choice for Damon’s best.
As far as guest roles, playing himself as a major douche on Entourage and the commercial shoot with Adrian Grenier was golden.

I like the one where he buys the zoo. Underrated family flick.
ETA: the Departed is my favorite movie that he’s in. His Asgard cameo was funny as well.

Rounders, Good Will Hunting, The Departed, The Bourne Series (first is best but all 3 are really good), Courage under fire, Ocean's Eleven, The Good Shepherd, Ford v Ferrari, The Martian and Stillwater are what I'd consider my favorites.
Rounders probably my top of the list but it's tough.
I don't necessarily consider Private Ryan a Damon movie even though he's in it and is the title character, otherwise I'd have it included as well.

The Bourne movies. “Stillwater” is a terrible movie but I enjoyed that one a lot a far recent movies for some reason

lol same. I include it in my list of favorite Damon movies even though it has a lot of issues. My judgement might be clouded due to watching it on a plane and it helping pass the time on a flight to vegas.
