Disney. One statement to sum up the current state of affairs in the park.

Exited Epcot and not one cast member acknowledged anyone leaving.

First time I have ever seen that happen. 8-10 cast members, even a couple of plaids were just hanging out not doing anything.

Crazy. Bar is definitely being lowered and Genie is a crap shoot at best. Both Cast Members and Guests hate it

Going to be a while before we go back. Going to use DVC points for things like Hilton Head and the exchanges.

Parks need a lot of work.

It’s good hearing these reports. We’ve been planning on taking the kids, and the $3000+ budget expectations are unnerving. We’re not made of money, so Disney would probably end up being the biggest vacation we take our kids on in their elementary years.

Funny you start this conversation. My wife was talking about us going there this year as our youngest is now 4. Been about 5 years. I told her that I’d read this on TD a few months back. Guess it’s still the case.

EPCOT = Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow
quote:

Known as "EPCOT", an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, the idea included an urban city center, residential areas, industrial areas, schools, and a series of mass transportation systems that would connect the community. After Disney's death in 1966, the "EPCOT" concept was abandoned as the company was uncertain about the feasibility of operating a city.

Hmm… I wonder what ole Walt really had in mind?

It’s a $10,000 trip anymore and that’s just doing average things.

And on top of that, they try and hire just anybody for every character and it doesn’t work

Took the family when the kids were young, had a good time but to me Disney is one of those things you see once and that's enough. Too many other vacation attractions in this country to limit yourself to doing one thing over and over.

I don’t get the fascination with Disney. People act like they have to sell their right nut just to get to go.

Were you wearing a mask or were you actively trying to give them Covid?

If I had a dime for every Disney thread in the last 3 weeks I'd have like 86 dimes

They have jacked up prices and are still overflowing. What's their incentive to put in more effort on the state of the product?

Disney is overrated and stupid expensive. I understand going once with young kids. But the people who continuously go blow my mind.

I'm turning into a grumpy old man I think.

My first reaction was wtf? Why not take the family to places like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and the Redwood forests instead? Hell, take the family to a bunch of different baseball stadiums or boating trips.

Those things are just so much more memorable and meaningful than flipping Disney crap. Hell, the corporation you'd be paying probably despises you and would scold you for your political beliefs.
