Ugh. Two years of record growth without going into the office. I don't understand the push to force people back into the drudgery of commuting. And the sycophants that applaud the announcement. Just vomit. Anyway, looking forward to my commute again as we approach $5 gas!

I guarantee companies are going to lose quality employees who will choose the flexibility of working from home vs. being "collaborative" in the office. A previous company I worked for moved from burbs into Atlanta and thought employees would love the fancy new office, but the reality was 400% turnover during the next couple years. Turns out people don't want to live in Atlanta and they would rather quit than spend 2-3 hours in traffic every day.

Yes, yes, I'm sure many of you have been working the whole time. Me too. I don't need to be in the office, I need to be on the road and out.

Who else out there is hearing the same message?

By the user name I'm assuming some sort of construction or civil engineering firm?

Made the switch for the first time to fully remote last October. Switched companies, but same work essentially.

They made the call at my company yesterday, and I felt the pain for those employees that are not remote and are going to have to reenter that whole daily routine...

Remote life is so good.

Funny because mine just made hybrid work permanent.

Time to get out of your jammies, you lazy millennial, and have some real contact with people like an adult.

How will we ever get any work done unless micromanaging boomers are looking over our shoulder 8-10 hours a day?

What's your office like. My company purchased a new campus right before covid... 2 large buildings.... It has 2 gyms, 1 has a pool. Another has a big area for yoga and CrossFit classes. We have a cafe in one building with a grill, the other has a cafeteria style setup. Each floor has a break room with bar style setup. I'm remote 100 percent but tempted to go back at the office. shite I could sell my house and live there right now and no one would know.

Our company launched permanant hybrid as well. I joined during Covid but haven't done a single project with anyone in Dallas so I've never been into the office.

Seems most places are moving towards a hybrid model, and allowing trusted employees somewhat make their own schedules. I think there’s some benefit to office work and interacting face to face with people you work with, but I also think ther is a benefit to allowing employees to work from home if they prove they can handle it.

I can work from home but rarely do. Mostly because my wife does 3-4 days a week, but my commute is only 10-15 minutes so it’s not a big deal to come in.

Sucks for sure, we were out producing by a pretty substantial margin from home. Then we come back to work and they put a good bit of us working remote, frim the office for our main office! I could have stayed working from home. I would at least like to switch to 4-10s but I dont see that happening either.

My mom and sister work at the same company and they initially were told that coming back was optional and that they were going to let the employees choose; however, they went back on that and made it mandatory for everybody. My sister said f this and went to a company that was guaranteeing full WFH (they don't even have an office in her state) and my mom said let me keep working from home or I'm retiring (she's retiring in 2 years regardless) and they agreed.

I’ve been working remotely for 3 yrs now. It’s nice but it gets old being at the house all day everyday. I would enjoy going back to an office for work.

I've always thought the pandemic was GROSSLY overexaggerated from day 1. That said, I understood why companies that could chose to have all of their employees work from home for the first few months of the pandemic. Even our small company did that. But two YEARS away from the office is joke. I don't feel one ounce of sympathy for large corporate America who bought into and perpetuated all of this BS now that their employees have all become accustomed to working from home.

You have a lot of commercial real-estate leases you have to pay for building space that is being unused? Tough shite!

Downtown areas are struggling because the workforce that was there prior to March of 2020 has been gone for 2 years? Sorry.

Perhaps next time when we decide to unnecessarily shutdown society and commerce we'll realize such decisions don't happen in a vacuum. Maybe we should evaluate the potential side effects to such decisions when we are trying to be "all in this together."
