The powers that be are dangling Mardi Gras like a carrot in front of the citizens. I’m an outsider, but I get the feeling that growth has stagnated a bit. Tourism is a main industry, and the leaders would rather drive folks away and use fear as a ruling force.

There’s constant opposition on here, and I realize many of you live in outlying areas. Is there anybody on here that lives in city proper and supports Latoya and thinks the restrictions are a good thing?

Live here and no. I’ve got a foot out the door. Up until the pandemic, I had, even if only just barely, more reason to stay here than to leave. The only thing keeping me here now are my close friends and family, and still a place in my heart that I want to be here if we can ever elect someone TO FIX IT.

And as far as the queen goes, I wouldn’t piss on that count if she was on fire.

I lived in BR for college for 5 years and New Orleans the other 34. I used to love this city, but I hate what it’s become. Sure crime was always a problem in certain areas, but it’s now widespread even in the more affluent ones. I’ve noticed as I got older that being white, I’m in the minority and no matter what the people sucking off the government teet always outweigh my concerns and votes. It suck and I’m ready to leave my family to start over somewhere else.

Not playing contrarian here, but when do you feel like it was really growing?

You're more likely to be carjacked at gunpoint than die of covid in NOLA right now.

# of covid press conferences- dozens
# of press conferences about crime- zero

Priorities are screwed and the city will continue to be as well until everyone with money and sense moves elsewhere (and I'm talking about the whole state)

Live here yes. Support not really. It's weird though and maybe I'm insulated in my little bubble but I work with people that have moved back to New Orleans and have wanted to after living in other metros.

Then again if I lived in the burbs I would want to end my life on the daily.

I mean LaToya is terrible but I also don’t think New Orleans is any worse today than it was 20 years ago.

Fell in love with living in the city, but now I can’t wait to leave. If there were a legit suburb option I would be out of here tomorrow.

If you’re looking for affirmation, head on over to r/NewOrleans. They’ll get two strokes in on you before you even take a seat in the circle jerk.

Toya is the only power dat be and she said without a doubt it is happening.

For me, that means 80% chance.

However, the people who pull her chains need the money and I have no doubt they have told her they need Mardi Gras.

Nola survives and moves forward in spite of idiots like Latoya and the Karens on the city council. Been that way since the days of the landrieu and morial administrations.

Imagine how great this place would be with intelligent leadership instead of grifters and race hustlers running city hall.
