Best
Duke's in Denham. From the drinks to the appetizers and meal everything was pretty good. I'd definitely go again.

Worst
McDonald's in Hammond. Was helping a friend move all day this past Saturday and was too tired to cook or shop for dinner so I hit the drive thru. Haven't been to McDonald's in about 5 years. After 2 bites, I questioned whether or not this was actually fit for human consumption.

Was pleasantly surprised with my meal at Big Bad Bites in Gonzales the other day.

Got a meatball sub that was a bit messy, but absolutely delicious for a fast food-ish type of place.

Best - Palmetto's on the Bayou in Slidell. Incredible atmosphere, filet was amazing.

Worst- P Beau's in denham. They ysed to be great pre pandemic. Firing on all cylinders. food was top notch, atmosphere was great, service was great. Went in there 2 weeks ago and the food was terrible. Half of the food we got was literally cold, like right out of the refrigerator. the outside of the food was warm but inside was cold. fries were way overcooked. server was a nice guy but disappeared for long periods to go smoke and came back freshly dipped in cigarette smoke.

Best:

TenTen in downtown Austin. Great sushi and drinks, very nice atmosphere, excellent service even for Covid times. Was expensive, but it’s a great special occasion type of place.

Worst:

Voodoo donuts. My wife wanted to try it because they offer a lot of vegan options. They are all oversized, over decorated sugar bombs. Even for donuts, they are way too sweet.

For this exercise, I’ll use places (locations) that we tried for the first time, and it has been within the last three months.

Best: Salud de Mesilla in Las Cruses, NM. Top tier margaritas, fantastic homemade salsa, and delicious entrees. I normally don’t order steaks at restaurants anymore because I end up disappointed, but this one was worth the price of admission.

Worst: Ninfas in Missouri City, TX. Yes, the Ninfas on Navigation in Houston is delicious. I even enjoyed many moons ago the Ninfas in Lafayette. So after Mass one Sunday evening, we were looking for a Mexican place to eat, and realized “There’s a Ninfas just down the road we’ve never been to before”. The place was horrible. Salsa still pretty good, but other than that, food way below average, certainly below the Ninfas standard we had previously know. Also, the restaurant smelled, especially the hallway where the restrooms were. We almost left upon sitting down, but decided since we haven’t eaten Ninfas in forever, lets bear it and hope the food is the same. Our hopes were murdered brutally that night.

The worst place I'v eaten recently is Pascal's Manale. The food was some of the worst food I've eaten in NOLA.

Best - Robertos in St Gabriel got a killer steak with some lump crabmeat on top the other day

Worst - LSU Concessions at the Kentucky game. Pretty sure the pretzel I got was made during football season. But I shouldve known better...

Best:
Fat Canary in Williamsburg, oyster stew, short ribs, and some of the best cocktails I have had in a while. They introduced me to Basil Hayden dark rye.

Worst:
Three B's in Lakeview. Normally the food is serviceable but they changed the burger bowl and now it is kale and cabbage in a dressing and it sucked.
The old fashioned was good though

I went to a local steakhouse this weekend and sat for an hour and a half and still no food. Ended up leaving cash for the two drinks I had that also took 20-30 minutes to get.

I wasn't mad or anything. Was just a weird experience. When I called prior to make a reservation it sounded like the place was empty and that they would be more than able to accommodate a 2 top.

why does everyone on here always say this?

According to this board, no one here has had fast food in over 5 years

Best:

Jeffrey's in Austin. Excellent restaurant every single time I visit.

Worst:

Perry's steakhouse. I've been to 2 locations in the last few months, Austin (Domain) and Houston (Energy Corridor) and both of them were terrible. Everything was salted to a nearly inedible state, especially the salads, and this comes from a coonass who oversalts everything. My entire party both times complained about everything. I can't believe this place is thriving in both of those locations like they are.

Worst: Southern Pearl Oyster House in BTR. Sent the raw oysters back because they looked like the shucked them with a hammer. Grilled oysters were cooked to oblivion and were boogers.

Best: Suire’s Kaplan. Turtle Sauce Piquant w/fried fish and potato salad.

Best Get Your Mom and Dim Sum (popup)

Excellent flavors, nice balance.

Dumplings

Kung Pao Noodles

Worst - Frey's. We went late so maybe that had something to do with it. But nothing was particularly good.

Best - The Dinner in Nashville. I tasted everything my family ordered, and it was all excellent.

Worst - Smokin Aces BBQ in Denham Springs. I didn’t think a single thing I tasted was good, and I tasted everything my family ordered.
